In the spirit of celebrating Singapore's 48th National Day and to encapsulate the essence of Many Stories, One Singapore, I am compiling my list of A-Z Singaporean things that are close to my heart. My Mommy Blogger Friend, Evelyn of The Bottomsup Blog started this initiative, Cindy of Weiz Journey and Sandra of Sanses both hopped on and today's my turn to jump on the bandwagon!A is for Ang Ku Kueh, directly translated as 'Red Tortoise Cake'. What National Day means to me…
As a young Singaporean growing up, I saw how my Mom toiled to put food on the table and to fend for the family. I saw how not everyone was born with a silver spoon in our mouths but I experienced first hand the redeeming grace of meritocracy in bridging the gap between the 'haves' and the 'have nots'. I who had so little to start with now lead a contented life with no lack (yes contentment is a choice and an invaluable virtue) but the reality is, most Singaporeans have a comfortable roof over … [Read more...]
Our favourite sights every National Day…
How do you teach and nurture loyalty? Like all values, they're caught and not taught. Every year, we make it a family affair to catch the National Day Fireworks...hoping the little one will 'catch' the patriotism of being a Singaporean...Most years, it involves 'camping' outdoors at good vantage points hours before the actual fireworks display; once we splurged on a National Day stay-cation (at Ritz Carlton no less!) to soak in the atmosphere with the extended family. As you can see, National … [Read more...]

Being a Mom is the highest and most privileged calling, a dream come true. Some people call it a thankless task, the world's most underpaid yet most demanding job...I don't refute that. But as I count my blessing and look forward to the celebration of Mothers' Day (and my Birthday), my heart is filled to the brim with gratitude. I'll like to use this familiar bible verse inspired by God and written by the Apostle Paul to offer encouragement to all Moms around the world. In it, He gave us … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day: Simple ‘I Love You’ Garland
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I decided to rope in the Princess to make a simple V-Day craft for Daddy. Count down to Christmas with DIY Advent Ornaments!
It was pouring cats and dogs yesterday evening. Daddy had a report to complete; Mommy had to edit the photos taken at LEGOLAND so Dana enjoyed a special movie treat, watching a Charlie and Lola DVD which we had loaned from the National Library. After an episode on 'How Many More Minutes Until Christmas', she came and requested if we can make an Advent Calendar together. In all our years of existence, we've never had an Advent Calendar but being the loving Mom that I am (*erhem*), I hastily … [Read more...]

What's so awesome about this carnival is that … [Read more...]
The Origins of our Love…
I'm listening to Taylor Swift's You Belong with Me as I typed this post to get myself in the mood to share our love story. Many of our friends are surprised that David and I have been wed 13 years, 'That long!?" they usually remarked. Over the years, our love has mellowed into a deep, mutual commitment and affection for each other. We have grown to become the indispensable companion and soul-mate which God has designed husbands and wives to be... Our love story started *er-hem* in the … [Read more...]
