This revolutionary product from Dyson is changing the game on Air Purifiers. Here’s why.
Thanks to the annual haze problem, Singaporeans are more informed on the harmful effects of airborne pollutant that exacerbate allergies and respiratory ailments. Singapore homes have gotten quite accustomed to having an air purifier as a reactive protection from the haze. These rectangle or large circular shaped conventional air purifiers are usually heavy, bulky, noisy with air flow aimed upwards and not at the room’s occupants. In fact, these conventional air-purifiers are usually used together with existing fan or air-conditioning to provide clean air by circulating the air in the room.
Here’s where Dyson revolutionized the Air Purifier Scene.
What if there’s an air purifier that works as a fan and just as well, or better, as an air purifier? In addition, how about having an air purifier that is so stylish, it’s hard to believe what it can do.
I’m of course referring to the Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan – the blade-less fan and air purifier from Dyson which is like no other air purifier we’ve ever seen or used. The Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan is engineered to remove odour, bacteria, toxic fumes, airborne pollutants as well as captures up to 99.95% of particles as small as PM0.1, which are harmful components found in the air during the hazy periods. Another outstanding feature of the Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan is its Quiet Mark accreditation which makes it quiet even when it is oscillating.
For the past 3 months since we’ve had the Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan, this unassuming home appliance has been sitting in our kids’ room, working diligently and quietly to provide them with clean purified air as they study, read, play and sleep. In short, it has become an indispensable ‘guardian’ for the kids, ensuring the air they breathe in is properly purified.
The Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan is unlike its predecessor. It uses a 360 degree HEPA quality glass filter to remove 99.95% of potentially harmful ultra-fine particles including those as small as 0.1 microns (that escape other air purifiers). The filter is good for 12 hours worth of continuous use across 365 days (i.e. the entire year). Changing the filter is a breeze (pun intended) with the self-explanatory ‘click on’ or ‘click off’ system that takes less than 60 seconds to change. The HEPA glass filter retails for S$78 – we all know how much a trip to the doctor would cost so consider this a very small investment for your family’s better well-being for all year round (haze or without).
The Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan is very visually attractive – slim and stylish and super compatible for modern homes where space is an issue. Its unique and patented Blade-less-Technology is capable of producing clean and strong gusts of winds to cool the room. It’s so effective that I rarely had to power the Pure Cool beyond the mid-way mark (5) for daily usage. In fact, combined with the glass filter, the gentle blowing of the wind here means also that dirt particles are not ‘forced out’ of the filter, which can so often happen with conventional air purifiers.
The blade-less blower means we don’t need to worry about our active 20 month-old Buddy sticking his finger into the fan and getting into accidents. Its unique, oblong shape allows the fan to cool a larger area of the room with one single oscillation. We were pleasantly surprised to find out too that all Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fans come with a 2-Year warranty on parts and labour.
The Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan comes with a lightweight sleep timer remote control that can be attached to the top of the fan (via magnets). The sleep timer function can be set for anywhere between 15 minutes to 9 hours for night long air purification. It’s quite impressive that something so stylish looking can be so functional!
Here’s a snapshot on why we absolutely love the Dyson Pure Cool™ purifier fan:
1. Most air purifiers are large, bulky and noisy. The Dyson Pure Cool’s stylish design and air purifying capabilities means we can leave it in the room to provide clean, purified air, quietly all year-round (not only during hazy periods).
2. Blade-less: Safe for young kids, especially inquisitive toddlers and pre-schoolers.
3. Efficient: Air Multiplier technology uses a small motor to deliver strong, robust wind flow. Less space, less weight but more effective purification.
4. Sleek, Slender and Stylish. A real head turner for the home.
5. Safe, Easy to maintain and clean. No need to mess with fuzzy filters.

This is so cool… air purifier and blade-less fan. But the price… *shakes head* although I hear about how good certain Dyson products are.

I have a Dyson bladeless fan at home which we bought because we didn’t want my kids sticking their fingers into the fans. But mine doesn’t have purifier. Quite clever to make the purifier part of the fan!

Indeed they are. The design and functions are quite ingenious.

Actually bladeless fan is a good option with kids at home as we don’t have to keep supervising them all the time. This one serves dual purpose of a good fan and air purifier.

Indeed it is Pooja. Thanks for visiting.

We are Dyson fans but they are so expensive! I think we bought ours at a special discount because they were launching this purifier fans back then. They had to slash the price for the old models and we bought them haha
David.S says
Thanks for visiting May, yeah….but its value for money considering its design and function.
Danessa Foo says
Love Dyson for their design and innovation. Too pretty but a little bit overpriced for our budget. Then again, we can’t put a price on our health.
David.S says
Thanks for visiting Danessa…the Dyson is stylish and quiet, an air purifier that can be used daily without making the home sound (or look) like a factory.
Jacqualine says
I have been considering getting this Dyson fan + air purifier since last year! I heard that the wind power is not as strong, and I am a bit worried on the price tag – almost a thousand! Regardless, I think I will go to the Courts near my place to test it out and see. 0% installment maybe? Hehe
David.S says
We heard about that concern too Jacqualine but honestly after trialling this, we find the wind force just nice for , in this model, the room. Sometimes with a stronger wind force we have to ‘tune’ it down so that the kids (or us) don’t catch a chill but this Dyson creates a gentle and yet strong enough wind force. Comfortable for a room.
