Hot on the heels of the success of Dim Sum Dollies’ “The History of Singapore” and last year’s “Crazy Christmas! Ting Tong Belles” , the beloved cabaret trio (Selena Tan, Pam Oei and Denise Tan) is back with another side-splitting performance. Quite timely too before we usher in SG50, the Dollies will tackle episodes in the country’s history post- independence in 1965. The first show, focusing on events before 1965, was staged in 2007.
“With the whole SG50 fervour, I wanted to put this out early so we can celebrate with laughter.” Dream Academy Founder, Selena Tan.
With their trademark bright and bold stage presence and eloquent mishmash of English, Singlish and local dialects, the Dim Sum Dollies will take audience back to Singapore’s past, discussing what makes Singapore the place we all know and love today. Be prepared to see E.R.P., C.O.E., G.S.T, “Two Is Enough”, “Teamy Bee”, “Courtesy Lion”, “Kallang Roar” and many other quintessentially Singaporean icons and hot topics in a whole new light!
The costumes, as usual, promise not to disappoint. There are about 25 costumes for each Dolly in the two-hour show. Some of these are mascots such as “Singa the Courtesy Lion” and “Teamy The Productivity Bee”, recognizable to many Singaporeans for being the faces of government campaigns in the 1980s. Music-wise, the show will feature 17 songs from genres ranging from 1960s a-go-go to 1980s flashdance. They will be joined by a bevy of male dancers known as the ‘Loh Mai Guy’s – a pun on the Cantonese dim sum treat loh mai kai.
The Dollies’ tongue-in-cheek humour and satirical take on current affairs have proven to be so popular that every single show they have put on since 2002 is a sell-out. So grab your tickets fast if you want a quick revision of Singapore’s history, Dim-Sum Dollies style!

Wife and I watched the last Dim Sum Dollies’ festive act when Emily Lim was still part of the trio (*sad*). Would love the chance to watch the on-stage chemistry of the ‘new’ trio.
