With our Wedding Anniversary coinciding with Fathers’ Day this year, how did we celebrate it? We took off to nearby JB for a one night staycation! It was a last minute decision as we had barely returned from Bali but we decided we deserved another treat (yay!). We booked the hotel through its website on Friday and set off two days later on Sunday morning (Fathers’ Day)!

Here comes our lunch! |
En-route, we stopped over at this famous coffee-shop to satisfy our craving for Bah-Kut-Teh. I had googled for the address of this restaurant, drove there using our GPS and it did not disappoint. It came piping hot, laden with my favourite Enoki Mushrooms, Tau-Kee (dried beancurd skin), Pig’s Stomach and juicy Pork Ribs, served in a big earthen claypot. We love it’s rich, tasty, non-peppery broth. Apparently, many Singaporeans often make the drive across the causeway just for this BKT! It’s also a good opportunity to introduce local street food to Dana other than fast-food like McDonalds…

After our tummies are filled, we relied on our GPS to lead us to our hotel – the newly opened Traders Hotel, Puteri Harbour, located right next to the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and the Little Big Club. We were told by its staff that the hotel just had its soft launch on 1 June 2013, hence the harbour view rooms which we had requested for are not available yet. True enough, the area is so new that there are many ongoing construction projects surrounding the hotel. Thankfully, it didn’t pose much of a problem during our stay.

As part of our anniversary stay, the hotel management prepared a little surprise for us upon check-in.
A pair of lovey-dovey swans made from towels! |
A heart made from rose petals! |
Even the bathtub is strewn with rose petals! |
A bottle of white wine, a cake and a note from the GM to top it off! |
The room is compact, with a plush king sized bed and a sofa bed. It can accommodate 3 comfortably. With the facilities and amenities all so brand new, we spent a most cosy and relaxed anniversary stay here. Due to shortage of time, we didn’t get to enjoy its rooftop infinity pool. Daddy says it gives us a good excuse to return!

We presented Daddy with a Fathers’ Day Card and this personalised Daddy/Daughter Keychain-Necklace Set which I had secretly ordered and shipped from the United States. Daddy was pleasantly surprised to receive this gift and Dana was beaming when we told her that she is ‘the little girl who stole Daddy’s heart’!

The next morning, it’s just a short 10min drive to Legoland. We spent an enjoyable day there and upgraded our tickets to annual passes. Do read Dana’s recommendation of Top 20 Rides in Legoland here. Though this getaway was way too short, we thank God for blessing us with safe journey and a dedicated time celebrating family togetherness. This was the first time we explored JB by car but with such good food and enjoyable staycations waiting for us, it certainly won’t be the last!
A most delightful getaway for the family! |
