We’ve never been to a circus. Our knowledge of a circus is limited to books and movies like Madagascar. But come next month, we’ll get to experience it LIVE under the iconic Big Top in the Big Apple City of New York where we’ve saved up for our 15th Wedding Anniversary.

The Big Apple Circus is an award-winning, not-for-profit, world-renowned presenter of live family entertainment. In their 36th year, they would be performing their last season for Spring from May 18 to June 15th, 2014 at Queens, NY. At this circus, families can get up close to the energetic and hilarious show because every seat in the tent is less than 50 feet away from the ring! When we read up more about Big Apple Circus, we are impressed with their dedicated community outreach programmes aimed at using the healing power of humour through circus acts to spread joy to needy children, elderly and the less privileged communities in America.
Just to name a few,
1. Clown Care, the Big Apple Circus’s signature community outreach program, brings the joy of the classical circus to hospitalized children at 14 leading paediatric facilities across the U.S.
2. Circus of the Senses is a special performance offered free of charge to children with hearing and vision impairments and other disabilities along with their teachers, families, and caregivers.
3. Circus After School provides a unique opportunity for at-risk youths to develop life-enhancing skills such as teamwork, commitment, and self worth through a structured program of learning and performing the circus arts.

We were ecstatic when we found out that our travel dates will coincide with their last few LUMINOCITY shows in Queens, NY. This will be yet another milestone as it will be our family’s 1st ever live circus experience. Honestly, I have little idea what to expect except we’ll be entertained by hilarious clowns, expert aerialists, seasoned acrobats, jugglers, circus animals and amazing tight-rope-walkers suspended in mid-air! With so many world-class acts and a live Big Apple Circus Band, I know we are in for a spectacular evening that Dana will remember for years to come!
If you are headed to NYC (or planning a trip in the future), do check out Big Apple Circus’ schedules on their Website and Facebook page.
