Sarah from The Playful Parents is running a month long October Playbook to celebrate Children’s Day. She has compiled a comprehensive play list containing 31 days of 31 great ideas to follow (and capture) your children’s giggles. You can download the playlist here.
Day #1’s challenge is to read something silly – riddles, jokes, stories.
We have chosen a lively alphabet chant for our bedtime story tonight – Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault.
Dana enjoys reciting the familiar words of this fun alphabet chant along with the audio CD. The text is stringed by a nice catchy rhythm which makes it a fun read-aloud for preschoolers. The silly plot of the 26 letters of the alphabet climbing up the coconut tree and all falling down in a rumbustious mess never fail to tickle the kids’ funny bones. As we listened to the soundtrack, Dana started choreographing her own impromptu hip-hop dance steps which made Daddy and I giggle non-stop!
Get your kids to sing along to this YouTube version of the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Song and enjoy a playful October!
