Eagle-eyed readers and friends have noticed that the usernames in our social media channels have been updated surreptitiously today. Our blog ‘PrincessDanaDiaries’ started as a personal online diary to document Dana’s growth and share her photos with relatives living overseas. In it, I jotted down baby weaning recipes and her monthly milestones in the hope that it will become a treasury of beautiful memories for our daughter. Over time, the blog grew; we made friends, formed relationships with fellow parent bloggers and grew a larger, loyal reader base. In September last year, we hired Patricia of Fancy Girl Designs to give our blog-spot a ‘makeover’ and she did a fabulous job.
Barely one year later, the need for a blog overhaul surfaced again, this time with more urgency. We needed a new blog name, an inclusive one to accommodate our son, our new bundle of joy. David and I embarked on an ambitious move from blogspot to self-hosted Word Press – something we’ve heard many blogging friends rave about but lack the time nor technical know-how to do it ourselves. Thankfully, we found Jenn, The Techie Mom (a WordPress migration expert) whose services I highly recommend. Jenn migrated the blog contents over (all 600 posts of them!) without a glitch while Pat (once again) weaved her magic with the Genesis blog theme. I’ve picked soft, soothing shades of sea breeze, spring green and elegant grey to reflect this new season in our lives. I asked God for a blog symbol and He whispered, ‘Dandelions’ – delicate, fleeting, beautiful – much like the miracles He sprinkled into our lives which we easily overlook. With that, the blog design is conceptualised. I commissioned Pat to paint these watercolor illustrations to lend the blog a classy, dreamy feel. David came up with the tagline: “Life’s Tiny Miracles – Cherishing Moments, Creating Memories” – something which we endeavour to keep doing with this new blog.
As I was manually tagging all the migrated posts, I came across this post which I penned just before Dana turned 5. Then, I didn’t even dare to dream of the privilege of parenting a second child, much less a cute and cuddly one. The reality of Buddy’s adoption brought miracles very close to home.
As with all new beginnings, there would be a period of transition. So, do bear with us as we navigate this whole new blogging platform and iron out the kinks. We pray you’ll continue to read, support and write to us – the journey continues!
To all our blogging friends, we would be grateful if you can take a minute to update your blogroll to reflect this change. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.
Life’s Tiny Miracles – David, Angie, Princess and Buddy.
