Part 2 – The TOP 7 RIDES FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN!
In Part 1 of our LEGOLAND Malaysia review, we picked Top 7 Rides for Preschool Kids (aged 4-6). Here in this post, we have Caleb (Dana’s cousin) to share with us The 7 Top Rides recommended for children his age (7 years and up).
LEGO® CITY
1. Driving School
Minimum Age: 6 – 13 years
The LEGOLAND Malaysia Driving School offers a unique and interactive hands-on experience for kids. Caleb was given an opportunity to learn the rules of the road and drive on a true-to-life traffic circuit. He was first shown a video that introduces the LEGO cars and briefed on important safety information before being allowed to go ‘driving’. He also learnt about the various road signs which he must obey, steer his cars past traffic lights (stopping on red, of course) and overtake other drivers at a maximum speed safely to qualify for his very own LEGOLAND Malaysia Driving License.
This is definitely a popular activity which Caleb enjoyed tremendously. After the ride, we bought Caleb his personalised driving licence (RM30) as a souvenir from our LEGOLAND visit. Younger children (like Dana) are not left out either as they can attend the Junior Driving School which offers slower single-pedal cars.
LAND OF ADVENTURE
2. Dino Island
Join a thrilling journey to the peak of a forgotten volcano. Watch out for the LEGO® dinosaurs along the way, and prepare to get wet on the way down.
Minimum size: 130 cm (120-129 cm if accompanied by an adult)
This is a roller-coaster where a mini steel roller coaster curves and dips around giant models of Lego dinosaurs before plunging down a 12 meter height into a water canal. As it was drizzling, most visitors put on their ponchos for the ride. Dana wanted so much to go on this Dino Island ride but had to sit out due to her height. We distracted her by buying her an ice-cream cone while we waited for Daddy and Caleb to finish the ride. Daddy also promised to bring her back again when she turns 6 (but I’m sure we’ll be back sooner than that!).
3. Lost Kingdom
Get ready to play an adventure hero in this laser-blasting hunt for lost treasure.
Minimum size: 120 cm (110-119 cm if accompanied by an adult)
A 16-foot tall LEGO® pharaoh guards the entrance to Lost Kingdom Adventure where we began our journey to recover stolen treasures by blasting targets with laser guns. Our scores are recorded and competition is fierce as skill and determination are the keys to a successful expedition. We (Dana included) enjoyed this interactive ride so much we went on it twice. We did not manage to snap any photos as it’s prohibited during the ride but it was definitely one of our family’s favourites.
LEGO® KINGDOMS
4. The Dragon
Ride a fire-breathing dragon through the Middle Ages, but get ready for the twists and turns along the way.
Minimum size: 120 cm (110 – 119 cm if accompanied by an adult)
This was the ‘STAR’ attraction in all LEGOLANDS – The Castle with the Dragon Roller Coaster. Daddy and Caleb went on this roller coaster ride which brings them through a dark castle featuring static and animatronic period characters. Dana was disappointed that she had to sit out on this but we compensated her by going on the “Dragon’s Apprentice’ ride twice.

Slightly disappointed but she cheered up after she rode on the Dragon’s Apprentice! |
LEGO® TECHNIC
5. Aquazone Wave Racers
A thrilling wave surf where those watching trigger the water bombs.
Minimum size: 120 cm (100-119 cm if accompanied by an adult)
Dana and Daddy enjoyed riding this high-speed power ski through the waves. Altogether, twelve wave racers whizzing in their circular tracks will have to dodge the four water guns fired by spectators.
6. Project X
Racy, crazy and 18 metres high: Project X is a wild ride on a steep switchback track with lots of sharp bends.
Minimum size: 120 cm (110-119 cm if accompanied by an adult)
Daddy and Dana queued for this Project X only to be turned away when it was their turn. Caleb was not keen to try this ride so we could only watch as spectators. Many have reviewed Project X as THE most exhilarating ride of LEGOLAND so Daddy can’t wait for Dana to reach 120cm so he can come back and try it with her.
IMAGINATION
7. Build & Test
LEGO® inventors will love finding out if their creations could really work. This is like a hands-on builder’s workshop where kids are handed a set of wheels at the entrance and they can build their own vehicles using Lego bricks strewn all around. That’s not all, they can race their prototype creations against others on digitally timed tracks (complete with automated launch mechanisms). Cool isn’t it! Definitely a good pit-stop for all Lego fanatics. It’s a pity we didn’t get to spend time at the Build & Test center during this visit as it was crowded with families seeking shelter from the rain. We would definitely bring the kids back to build & test their own LEGO creations!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Its really a big help. We are planning to go to Legoland in May 2016. Have no idea what kind of rides they have until you post your blog. Your blog is very helpful.
Also, when is the best time to go there? Morning like 10am or 1:00pm?
Thank you so much.

Hi Simplish Mee
thanks for dropping by our blog and we’re happy to know you found our post helpful! We would recommend arriving early in the morning right when the gate opens so you can have the rides to yourselves. Have a wonderful time at LEGOLAND Malaysia! Our kids have been there many times but still enjoy it.
