…and happenings ONLY in March 2017. Miss them and they are gone! So, we help you PRIORITIZE these 5 high-quality ‘Must-Do’ attractions and activities happening this March …most are FREE.
1. World Press Photo Exhibition (3 to 26 March 2017) – Free for all.
Hailed as the ‘Oscars’ of Photojournalism, this exhibit brings the best of photojournalism right to our doorstep. There are only limited venues around the world which these are featured and Singapore is one of them…and they happen only in March.
Suitable for kids? Yes and not quite… Read on.
Yes – The exhibition is divided into two parts – one at the Level 1 Concourse of the National Museum. This one IS suitable for kids of all ages as part of the highlight are photos taken that portray Singapore life – our local happenings including sporting highlights and iconic scenes in and around our Island State. The iconic winning photo by Warren Richarson is also featured on this level. A must see.
Our favorite is a series of photos taken by Nancy Borowick of her late parents who were suffering from cancer together (yes, together). Very touching set of photos that symbolizes the tenacity and strength of love…till the very end.
Not quite – The 2nd part of the exhibition is at The Canyon at Basement 1 of the National Museum. This part may be suited more for older kids (Upper Secondary- 15/16 years) and serves as a window to some harsh realities of our world today. These include the Syrian crisis and its related atrocities. There are also photos depicting the need for nature conservation. Here viewer discretion is advised. For school-going kids, it’s best that a parent follow them to provide guidance to help them interpret the photos. Whichever is your preference, these poignant photos are seriously good and not to be missed.
