Is running good for kids? You bet it is. Running gets kids outdoors; builds strong bodies; improves endurance; strengthens their cardiovascular system; improves their memory and develops a healthy self esteem in kids.
The most important thing when considering any form of exercise with your kids is that they must enjoy it and that they want to do it without being coerced. Sports should be a positive experience so if kids find running/swimming/playing badminton (or any sports for that matter) enjoyable, then it will become a fun, recreational bonding activity for the family.
The Cold Storage Kids Run 2013 is a perfect sporting event which you can consider participating in. You can even invite the grandparents along as there is a brand new 3GEN Family Chase Category this year! It guarantees a fun-filled, healthy workout for the entire family.
As part of the organizing committee’s efforts to give back to the community, Cold Storage Kids Run 2013 has started a ‘Pledge-a-Shoe’ campaign to rally Singaporeans to help the underprivileged kids at its adopted charity, Caring for Cambodia.
About the Charity
Caring for Cambodia (CFC) is a non-profit, non-governmental, charitable organization that provides a free education to over 6,400 impoverished children in 21 schools in Cambodia, spanning pre-school to high school. These disadvantaged students walk on rough terrains for long distances from their homes to their schools – some of them with worn out shoes; or no shoes at all. As a result, children as young as 2 years old are exposed to many foot injuries such as blisters, cuts, and wounds.
How we can help
Pledge $5 to buy a pair of shoes for the underprivileged kids at Caring for Cambodia! All proceeds will go into buying new shoes for these needy Cambodian children. Pledge more to help more kids protect their feet!
You can make your Pledge-a-Shoe through the following:
Dana was excited when I told her about this meaningful fund-raising drive as she could recall that Daddy went to Cambodia last year for some mission work. She readily told us she wants to donate $10 to buy two pairs of shoes for these Cambodian children. Won’t you join us and rally your kids to Pledge-a-Shoe?
