As Dana is 4, we joined the Little Dali class. Teacher Shafiq explained the project of the day in simple steps to the 6 little artists who were present. There were also graphic representations of the topic of the day (“Flowers”) and Colour temperature chart on the wall to help the children navigate their task.
Soon after the children each decided what they prefer to draw (Either Daisy or Sunflower), they started doing what they have been patiently waiting for: Painting!
In this short one hour trial, the kids were exposed to two mediums: Canvas Paint and Oil Pastels. All the little artists were very engrossed in their art work and Teacher Shafiq allowed each of them to have free reign of creative expression (be it choice of colours, size of the flowers or the orientation of the painting). He gave very little intervention unless necessary so that the artwork would be authentic.
