Mentioned Duplo and many parents would immediate associate it as the ‘baby brother’ of LEGO and they’re right! Launched in 1969, Duplo is designed for children aged 1½ to 5 years old. They’re perfect for little hands that can’t quite manipulate the small Lego bricks and since Duplo bricks are twice the size of LEGO bricks, they are less likely to be swallowed by younger children.
Thanks to the kind folks at Nuffnang, Dana spent a most delightful afternoon playing with Duplo bricks at the Lego Duplo’s Kids Events last Saturday at Hokey Pokey, Suntec City.

Upon arrival, each child took a spontaneous shot at the photo wall. The host then ran two interesting Duplo building challenges where the children are given free reign to build (a) their dream home and (b) their favourite animal within each 20 minute time frame. The purpose of these challenges was to inspire the children to use their imagination and create possibilities that we adults may never have thought of.

This session rekindled Dana’s love for Duplo bricks. Upon reaching home, she dug out her Duplo Zoo playset which was put away ‘cold storage’ for the past few months and spent hours playing iwth it. I was also inspired to discover new ways to maximize the enjoyment of these Duplo bricks before she outgrows them.
