This being the last week of the school holiday, I decided to surprise Dana with a visit to KidsSTOP, Singapore’s newest Kids edutainment centre. Launched in June 2014, it aims to introduce science concepts in a play environment to children (3 to 8 years old). At KidsSTOP, children can engage in many hands-on activities in various thematic zones:

1. IMAGINE ZONE

The Built Environment is a re-creation of a bustling building site complete with hard hats and safety vests. Kids get to maneuver mini fork lifts and other heavy equipments. Perfect for all our little Bob the Builders!

Stop-motion Area
Budding filmmakers can direct their own stop motion animation films in this special movie lab. Dana and Noey had a go at it and were intrigued at their own productions!

Critters
This is where kids make new friends of the feathered, furry, and four-legged kind. A hands-on way to learn about the fascinating creatures we share the planet with. During our visit, we saw a newly hatched chick and some camouflaged amphibians which fascinated the kids.

Nature Area
The Nature Area offers a complete sensory experience for your child. This is a lush green zone where you and your kids can explore various types of animals, plants and weather patterns.

The one activity that the girl loves most in KidsSTOP? The Giant J activity where they learn about the effects of gravity by free falling down an inclined plane from a height of 4m to 7m. Watch the video to see our adrenalin junky in action!

Every session of play lasts only for 3 hours. When it was time for us to leave, the kids were so reluctant. This goes to show how much they enjoyed KidsSTOP. As parents, we are heartened to see many facilitators stationed at each zone to assist the kids and maintain orderliness. This is indeed a great step towards an exciting and inspiring journey of scientific discovery for kids. We’ll be back!
