We’ve had an eventful week: Dana broke her toe on Monday, Daddy and I each had our wisdom tooth removed (unplanned!) on Saturday evening…Pain and mounting medical bills assault us in all senses these past 2 months…So it was understandable that we were feeling a little down and deflated…
Then, just as I was swarmed with my work in the office, a fellow Mommy Blogger, Jean (whom I’ve yet to meet in person) read about Dana’s plight, FBed me for our home address as she and her family would like to mail something to cheer the Princess up! We’ve not received the parcel but I saw this lovely photo she’s posted up this morning and my heart is overwhelmed…In the past week, God has used her and many of our friends & family members to show us random acts of kindness; to send cheer and sunshine into our gloomy days and to remind us that God sees what we are going through and He hasn’t forsaken us…
Sometimes the cares of life come to us in one great load, as in a pregnancy loss or the death of a loved one. At other times, they come to us one at a time, like bricks in a wall. Each one may be small, yet when combined with the others, it forms a wal that may seem insurmountable. During those times, we all need encouragement. Paul wrote in the Scriptures that believers should “edify one another” (1 Thessalonians 5:11). We can encourage, speak a kind word or lend a helping hand. Sometimes, just our presence can encourage. We must be alert to opportunities to encourage one another as so many needs abound in the body of Christ and in our society today. I pray my family will also be givers and not merely receivers of kindness…and to all (far and near) who have shown us your random acts of kindness during our rough patch, may God bless you richly many folds in abundance in return…
” Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
