It was the first day of the March school holidays. Even though I had to work yesterday morning, I brought the the children to our favourite Gardens By The Bay for their Gardens of Wonder Children’s Festival in the evening.
When we arrived at 6pm, we were heartened to see The Gardens teeming with families – parents, kids, grandparents, all out enjoying some quality bonding time together on a Saturday evening. There are families jogging, roller-blading, scooting, having fun at the waterplay area or simply taking leisurely walks. Some were enjoying an early dinner at Satay By The Bay, others were sprawled on the lawn enjoying their home-cooked picnic spread. The atmosphere was very relaxed, heartwarming and even carnival-like. This attests to the popularity of The Gardens since its opening four years ago.
Especially for the March school holidays (March 12-20, 2016), Gardens by the Bay transforms into Gardens of Wonder, where a host of delightful programmes await the little ones. The activities are clustered at these 3 areas:
- Garden of Magical Creatures (Children’s Garden)
- Garden of Enchantment (Flower Dome) and
- Garden of Lights (Supertree Grove)
We caught the performance at the Far East Organization Children’s Garden’s waterplay area.
WATER PLAY PERFORMANCE: RAINBOWS IN THE WATER
The kids are dressed in the ultra-comfy, matchy ‘Hello’ tees which I bought from PrivyKids! Date & Time:

11 am – 11.30 am; 6 pm – 6.30 pm
13 & 20 March (Sundays)
11 am – 11.30 am; 3 pm – 3.30 pm
Venue: Far East Organization Children’s Garden
We then moved on to the Supertree Grove where a LED performance of a politically correct fairytale, Cinderella followed by the magnificent Supertree light show await us.
Besides these, there are also craft booths, game booths, bouncy castle, Children Talent Showcase, SSO Concert, Interactive storytelling and many other exciting programmes happening in various parts of the Gardens every single day this March holidays (and they are all FREE!* well all except for the train ride). For details on timings and venues, please refer to the Festival Schedule on the website.
One tip – gather a few good friends, cousins or neighbours and head to The Gardens together. The outing will be even more memorable with good company! I was delighted to catch up with some of my favourite Mommy Bloggers (A Juggling Mom, Life in the Wee Hours, A Million Little Echoes) at The Gardens last night.
