A Yule Log for the Yuletide Season – Emicakes Log Cakes

Among the commercialized practices that we have come to associate Christmas with, the eating of log cakes is something bakeries and hotels capitalise on.  One evening after dinner, Dana asked why do we eat log cakes at Christmas, we were hard-pressed for an answer. Thankfully, Mr. Google came to our rescue and this is what he says:

Log Cakes or ‘Yule Logs’ (as they were traditionally known) date back to a pagan custom in the Middle Ages (5th to 15th Century), when a large log (usually trimmed with pine and holly) would be burned in the huge fireplace of a castle’s main hall for twelves days of Christmas. During this time, there was much celebration.

Here in tropical Singapore, we have no need for a log to keep us warm and fuzzy but a yummy log cake adds that sparkle to any festive celebrations.  Moreover, any happy occasion is not complete without a good cake. Think birthdays, anniversaries, baby’s full month etc. some form of cake is always involved.

4. Truffle Sparkle – Divine dark chocolate bits in dark chocolate mousse. Pure chocolate perfection at its best!

All 4 flavours come in 4 regualar sizes (S, M, L and XL) and there is also an ‘eggless’ option for those who have egg allergy (yay!).  In addition, the D24 Cheer, Blue Winter Oreo and Truffle Sparkle also come in petite, cute little ‘mini’ log sizes (SGD11.90 each) which are perfect for couples and smaller families or for those who would like to try more than one flavour!

D24 Cheer Log Cake is one of my favourite and i would like to take this opportunities to be able to spread the love and happiness of this to share with my dearest family, whom has been there throughout for me. My whole family loves durain alot, but they haven’t had a chance to try this wonderful durian log cake, so i hope that i am given this opportunities during this jolly season, to share with them and surprise them with this ! Upon receiving it, they will be surprised, because , we all believe that all of us are angels, and that just nice it was decorated with an angel on it !   9. Hope to get the Blue Winter Oreo for my kids because they have yet to like durian, and they don’t know how to appreciate dark chocolate yet too. Cream cheese and Oreos sounds like dunking Oreos in milk *yums* and it’s with their favourite fluffy vanilla sponge!

  10. Mum works tirelessly days and nights to ensure that the family are warmly clothed and well fed. Wake up early in the morning with sleepy eyes just to prepare breakfast before we are off for work, so that we don’t skip the most important meal of the day. Despite the endless and exhausting household chores; cooking that made her surrounded with oil, heat and sweat, washing that made her hand dry and flaky due to constant soaking in detergent and marketing at wee hours when we are soundly asleep to ensure she gets the best and freshest for the family, but Mum has never grumble, instead she always put a smile on her face. Seeing how she sacrifices for the family, tears uncontrollably welled from my eyes. Mum’s selfless and unconditional love for the family is just like a picture that worth a thousand words, which can’t be described literally only through words.
