KidsFest, a theatrical extravaganza for children 3 to 12 years old is back! Having enjoyed three successful runs in Singapore, KidsFest is prepped for yet another brilliant season with eight world-class theatre productions from Australia and London’s West-End staging right here in Singapore! Curated by ABA Productions Pte Ltd, the line-up for KidsFest 2015 promises a highly educational and immersive experience for the entire family. Set to stage at SOTA (School of the Arts Singapore), a premier performing arts centre right in the city, watch your child whoop with delight as stories from their favourite books unfold and characters comes to life.
KidsFest 2015 – Happening January 21st to March 1st 2015!
Our family are fervent KidsFest supporters, having enjoyed many of their productions. We brought the kids to watch Horrible Histories: Awful Egyptians last year and The Grufflao + The Snail and the Whale the year before. As a lead up the KidsFest 2015, Tiger even paid Dana and her little friends a surprise visit. We are most excited to present you the line-up this year!
Recommended for the little ones aged 3 and up and their families
1. The Gruffalo (January 22nd – 25th)
Mouse managed to scare hungry animals away with stories of the terrifying Gruffalo, but what happens when he comes face to face with the very creature he imagines? Join Mouse on an adventurous journey through the deep dark wood in this magical musical adaptation of the award-winning book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
2. The Snail and the Whale (January 30th – February 1st)
A tiny snail longs to see the world, so she hitches a lift on the tail of a huge humpback whale. Together they go on an amazing journey, experiencing sharks and penguins, icebergs and volcanoes. The little snail is amazed by it all, but starts feeling very small in the vastness of the world. Then disaster strikes – the whale becomes beached in a bay. Can the snail save the day?
3. The Princess and the Pea (February 5th –8th)
Imagine a hidden castle with hidden stories… a place where the Princesses don’t know they are Princesses and the Princes don’t really want to become Kings. Then one wintery stormy night everything changes, the east wind blows through the castle of secrets, blowing away the cobwebs, lifting high the royal mattresses, ruffling feathers and unsettling all who live there. Then imagine a real Prince and a real Princess, oh and a pea!
4. The Tiger Who Came to Tea (February 19th – March 1st)
Look who’s here for tea with Sophie and her Mummy! Following his highly successful run in London’s West End, the tea-guzzling tiger makes his second Asian appearance in this delightful family show. Packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos, this stunning stage adaptation of the classic tale of teatime mayhem will leave you in stitches!
5. Hugless Douglas (February 6th – 8th)
Hugless Douglas is a huggable, lovable young brown bear who wakes up one morning in need of a hug. He tries to find the perfect one, but none of them seem quite right. But Douglas soon discovers that there’s only one hug that will do – a big bear hug from his mum! Join Douglas in this happy new show, full of laughter, sing along songs and plenty of opportunities to join in!
Recommended for the little ones aged 5 and up and their families
6. Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo™ (January 29th – February 1st)
Get ready for a wild time at this menagerie that houses creatures from bygone eras. Watch wide-eyed from a safe distance or we dare to get up close to these awesome prehistoric creatures and cute baby dinos as our paleontologists take you on a once in a lifetime interactive experience!
7. Horrible Histories Vile Victorians (February 20th – 28th)
Could you be a Victorian historian? What exactly did a baby farmer do? Can you escape the misery of the mines or the filth of the factories? Do your best to dodge the rotten railway and prepare for the Charge of the Light Brigade! Join the terrible team from Horrible Histories as they take you on an awful adventure into vile Victorian England.
8. Horrible Histories Barmy Britain Part Two (February 19th – March 1st)
Could you beat battling Boudicca? Can evil Elizabeth entertain England? Will King Charles keep his head? Would you stand and deliver to dastardly Dick Turpin? Escape the clutches of Burke and Hare and move to the groove with party Queen Victoria! Don’t miss this horrible history of Britain with the nasty bits left in!
