Each year, we would start brainstorming for Dana’s birthday party after CNY. This year is no different except that I have yet to blog about her 5th Birthday celebration held last year. It was a fun bowling party which Daddy aptly named ‘Princess & the Pins‘.
The invitation card |
We spent several weekends doing site recces for suitable bowling alleys for kids’ party (SAFRA Toa Payoh Bowl- large, clean and new premise but carpark is woe on weekends; Singapore Poly Clubhouse Bowl – ample free parking but premise is small and dinghy; Kallang SuperBowl – too far and they do not allow external caterers). We finally settled on Orchid Bowl at The Chevrons which was bright, airy, with free shuttle service from the nearest Jurong East MRT, comes equipped with kids’ bowling facility and a private party room for our use.
Her own Bowling Party! |
Once the theme and venue have been finalised, I went into overdrive mode and worked with an Etsy online designer on the Birthday Invite. The colour scheme for her party was Pink and Green. Next, we engaged the talented ‘Party with Eva‘ team to work on the party decor and the dessert table. Working with the ‘Party with Eva‘ was a delight – their replies were always prompt and cordial, they were very accommodating and gave excellent service at reasonable prices. We gave them free reign to work on the theme, they wielded their magic and they transformed a plain function room into a ‘Princess & the Pins’ bowling wonderland:

The cake was an awesome Chocolate Fudge from Awfully Chocolate which had been personalized according to the design on the invitation card as per our custom request.

Chocolate, because it’s her fav! |
Dana invited 30 friends and it was a wise decision to hire a roving photographer from Party with Eva to ease us of the photography duties so we can mingle with our guests freely. The photo props they brought were put to good use throughout the party too!

After bowling, we gathered everyone in the party room for the cake cutting and afternoon tea refreshments. The Birthday Girl then gave a short thank you speech which she had prepared on her own. It was a precious teachable moment for her to show gratefulness to all the family and friends who love her so, and had specially set aside time to celebrate her 5th Birthday with us.

I always like bowling parties and thought of one for my girl’s party due in 2 weeks time. Think it may be too late to hold one. Nevertheless can keep in mind for my boy. Now you helped me cut down research on which bowling has kids bowl! Thanks!

Kamy says
Hi, can I ask how much your purchased the sipper cups for? Cos at amazon not all ships to Singapore and its so tough getting a similar bowling sipper cup for a bowling party I would like to have as well.
Angie says
Hi Kamy, I got it sometime ago from Amazon…sorry, can’t really recall the price. Do monitor the prices, like most things, it’s a supply and demand thing.

What a wonderful party! We’re organising a bowling party for our son and your post has given me lots of ideas thank you. Where did you get the popcorn bags from and did your party planner do the names on the pin sipper cups?

Is a bowling party suitable for deaf children?
David.S says
I think why not but there may need to be extra pair of eyes to ensure the kids don’t collide into each other on the bowling alley but otherwise I think it’s good fun! Thanks for visiting and asking.
