What? Learn robotics and fly a drone in KidZania?
Technology plays a big part in our lives and even more so in our children’s generation. To cultivate a deep interest in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) is therefore beneficial for our children to prep them for the future. This September School Holidays, KidZania Singapore presents its inaugural KidZ & Tech Festival offering kids a taste of STEM education and early understanding of the concepts and practices associated with Science and Technology.
The festival brings children out-of-classroom to see real-life STEM experiences in a kid-sized city. Activities, from simple coding to understanding how Quantum Physics apply to engines and more, will offer kids insights on Science and Technology can change the way we live, work and play.
Some Fun KidZ & Tech Activities include:
- Robotics and Drone Challenge
Explore the futuristic world of coding with Makeblock’s mBot robots and Airblock drones – try your hand at programming and navigating your way through a maze of obstacles.
- Simple Machine Making
Learn about simple mechanics and their role in everyday life with Spritzer. Make robots or other simple machines out of recycled materials and observe how they work!
- Cashless Vending Machine
To better understand the role of cashless transactions in today’s world, kids can try out NETS Flash Pay technology, with the exclusive KidZania Singapore NETS vending machine. - Negative Ion Technology
See how Sixth Element products make use of negative ion technology to improve the performance of engines. - Wireless Printing
Kids get to learn about wireless technology as they try out Canon’s wireless printer. Simply snap a picture and print it out on the spot!
Difficult to Go Home:
At the media preview, our daughter had her hands, feet and mind absolutely immersed in the activities. Normally, it is already difficult for her to leave KidZania, this KidZ & Tech Festival has definitely made it even tougher! Here are some reasons she (and us) loved it!
- Authentic Learning: Just like everything KidZania, these are hands-on experiences on actual devices and equipments such as an actual drone, coding via the available apps on their devices. Learn to print wirelessly etc…High-tech learning, KidZania style!
- Bite-sized Concepts: Experienced trainers customised the knowledge into easy-to-learn, bite-sized chunks which are appropriate for the kids to learn.
- No ‘Time-limit’: Unlike the usual KidZania timed activities, these are timed according to demand i.e. If the queue is short, your child may have longer time on the experience and if long, they may have to take turns and share. After all, sharing and working together IS important in real-life.
- ‘Free’: Kids can participate in these enriching experiences at KidZania for free, with regular admission charges.
- Print your Photos: Look for the Canon wireless printing booth and let the kids print their favourite photo of the day there for free!
