Time changes everything…almost. One of the things that has amazingly stood the test of time is none other than the Monopoly game. Sitting among the newer (and often noisier) games in the toy section of any major department store are stacks of Monopoly. And sitting somewhere in our bookshelves at home is that box of Monopoly game ready to be played for the next round. Because Monopoly has stood the test of time, it shares the limelight as a game that transcends … [Read more...]

The Safari Zoo Run 2015
Even before our daughter could walk, I’m already convinced that she would love running. I believe that perseverance and resilience can be cultivated through sports so I consciously built in activities which promote a love for the great outdoors. Since she was as young as 3, we’ve participated in several run events as Daddy-Daughter team. In fact, last year, I felt a tinge of sadness when I was told it would be the very last time we qualify for the parent-child race (after she turns 7yr old, she … [Read more...]
Oh, to be a child…to be a child again
I wrote this just as we returned from the funeral of Angie's Grandma. It's particularly depressing as her departure coincided with Chinese New Year...On our way back from the crematorium, we could see droves of families packing their cars in the driveway, ready for the annual reunions or road-trips home. I think we can all agree that Grandparents have a special place in our hearts. For me, I know that no matter how old I am, I will always be a child in my Grandparents' eyes. This is also the … [Read more...]

The Reluctant Goodbye: How to talk to young children about death…
My heart is aching as I draft this post. My beloved Grandma passed away peacefully last night on Friday the 13th...How I wish we lived in a world where we won't have to bear the the pain of losing a loved one! There was great outpouring of grief and among those present were primary school-going grandchildren like Dana and my nephew Caleb. Death is one of the hardest subjects to broach with children, especially when we are struggling to deal with our own deep sorrows. But death is also an … [Read more...]
Tributes to our Favorite Valentines
Source When we were dating, we would fuss over what gifts to buy, where should we go for dinner, how can we make it more special or unforgettable for each other whenever Valentine's draw near. Now that we are married and have assumed parenthood, Valentine's Day have somehow dwindled in significance and been relegated to lesser status after kids, after careers and after other more legitimate commitments. In fact, many frugal friends I know (myself included) have asked the hubbies not to send … [Read more...]

Sleek, Stylish, Sensational – The JBL Horizon Bluetooth Clock Radio
Here’s to every parent who has young children, particularly from babies to preteens. You know who you are: those of us whose only rare ‘me’ time is to indulge in a book that you have forgotten where you last stopped reading or an issue of your favourite magazine you bought which now surprisingly bears last year’s date or listening to some good music which replace the relentless cries of demands at home and the voices of command at work. Whichever your situations, you know who you are. If … [Read more...]

Club Med Bali – Never a Dull Moment
In all our travels, we have never had a vacation that kept us talking months after we've returned. In 2012, when we had our first Club Med experience, the sight of the Resort’s Chief of Village, Mr. Michael Clarke and his team waving us farewell as the facade of Club Med Bintan faded into the Bintan Island shrubbery is something I will always remember. So, when we were invited to experience Club Med again last month, this time on an island we love and know so well (Bali), we instantly put … [Read more...]
