In our home, Eric Carle is THE most requested author for bedtime real-alouds. Even our 3 year old Buddy would randomly pick up Eric Carle’s books in his free time and mimic reading, much to our amusement. He also could remember the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by heart. So it is with great anticipation and excitement when we knew that ACT 3 International is bringing the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada to Singapore again to present ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites’ from October 6 to 15, 2017.
Four tales will be showcased: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Little Cloud and The Mixed Up Chameleon. Kids would be able to get up close and personal with these endearing characters against a black-lighted background as they come to life in a unique form of storytelling through theatre. Now on its 4th visit to Singapore, Mermaid Theatre’s unique adaptations of Children’s literature have touched the hearts of more than 3 million young people across the world.
Its emphasis on original design elements, original music and interesting tales provides a rich opportunity to acquaint young audiences with the visual and performing arts as well as the pleasures of reading. We’ve watched the Mermaid Theatre’s performance few years ago with Dana and were absolutely mesmerized even as adults. So book your tickets now and let your children experience the glory of Eric Carle. Show duration is 60 mins and recommended for kids 3 to 6 years old.

My son fav Eric Carle book is “the hungry caterpillar”, because i got 1 version which the fruits have holes punch through it. When he counts the number of food the caterpillar ate, he will put his little finger through the holes.

Their favourite book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? They love trying to remember the color AND the animal so that as we read it, they can anticipate/predict the next animal even before the page is turned. Excellent way to build memory skills!

Our all time favourite is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. We always use that to emphasis to the kids to not be a picky eater. Hope to catch this show with them. 🙂

My boy’s favourite Eric Carle story is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? because it’s easy to read, learn and memorize. Now he is able to read to his younger sister just like a little teacher!
Christina Wong says
My girl’s favourite is The Hungry Caterpillar, we probably read it a few hundred times. There was a point of time we had to read it to her 8x in a day. 😂
However the book that makes her laugh the most is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? 😄

We enjoyed Mr Seahorse tremendously, because we own the version with the different marine life forms printed on transparent coloured pages and it makes the illustrations look oh-so-pretty. Not forgetting that it was a memorable learning point for my boys to discover that in the world of seahorses, it is the daddy who carries the eggs in his belly. Great story especially for daddies to bond with their kids.

My 4 yo girl’s favourite Eric Care Story is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” as she enjoyed the guessing of the next food when she first read it. She learnt counting and colours from there too. Now she uses it as a memory game, to see who can name the next food faster..

My girl’s favourite book is none other than the Hungry Caterpillar! We love it to bits and use it in our lap booking session, acting it out, sequencing, counting, life cycles… It’s such a lovely story..

My boys have many Eric Carle’s favourites given that we have many of his books at home. But the two titles that they have read and been read to most often, so much so that they can memorise the lines are The Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?

The very hungry caterpillar is the first book I read to my 3 children. But their favourite Eric Carle book is The Mixed up Chameleon. They like how mixed up it is if you only want to be like others.
