Over the last year or so, I suddenly discovered that I have developed Presbyopia. In short, due to aging, I now need reading glasses to correct my ‘long-sightedness’.

I’ve never had to wear spectacles all my life. This, like many other good habits, I owe it to my strict mother who insists that we adopt good eye care practices. So imagine my dismay when I discovered that I now need to wear spectacles to read even the product labels on supermarket shelves or to complete a proper text message without making embarrassing spelling errors. What an inconvenience!

The truth is that while Presbyopia comes with age and can’t be avoided, Myopia (or short-sightedness), can. Sadly, Singapore is infamous for having one of the world’s highest number of myopia sufferers – a whopping 80% of the population to be exact.

1) ensuring there is sufficient lighting in the room where you read, write or type.
2) selecting books that have non-reflective pages with large printed letters.

    I craft almost everyday and my table lamp is just a light bulb tied to the corner of my table. It will be great to win the 3M LED5000 Task Lamp so that it will not be so straining on my eyes whenever I need to focus on miniature crafts!

  3. My halogen lights are not kind to little eyes… the house is not exactly child friendly! I’d love to win this for Caden now that he’s starting to learn his alphabets and we are reading story books together!

    (I refuse to admit I need the light more than he does cos of that presbyo thing! Hahahah!)

    The lamp in my study room is not bright enough for my hubby and kids to do their work. With 3M LED5000 Task Light they will have adequate lighting for reading and doing their works. And will also helps to prevent their eyes from tiredness and harmful rays.

  5. We do not have a separate light for studying. We are depending on our ceiling light which i feel is too dim for studying or reading. Would love to win this 3M Led5000 task light for the study table and hopefully it will help to protect our eyesight.

  10. We used a central florescent lighting in each room. Its not bright enough for homework and reading. 3M LED50000 task light would be perfect for the desk and my little girl who is gojng to Pri 1 next year! No more straining of eyes.

  14. We have mood lighting in the house, mostly. So it’s generally on the dim side and not so much for reading. Some fluorescent lights are cove lights so again, it’s more of a mood lighting in general because we didn’t want the glare.

    Hubby is in the IT industry and often spend long hours in front of the computer or reading up on IT subjects. This light will certainly help his presbyopia.

    I loved your blog and thank you for your good informative explanation about the product.Our current lighting is ordinary ceiling white light.Dont have any special lamps.Now after reading your blog thought must concentrate more on our kid,growing very fast in an environment prone to so many harmful radiations through tv and other gadgets.Wish to win this 3M LED 5000 Task Lamp for my Princess because she loves bedtime stories and this would give no strain on our eyes.

    We don’t have a properly-lighted room for studying since we shifted in 10yrs ago. Now that Kristy is in P1, it became so apparent that she needs a bigger writing table, chair and proper lighting. It’s become a major item to consider upon for the 2 kids when we shift house 2 yrs later. Right now, we have to make do with ugly fluorescent light tube mounted onto wall above he spot where the kids do their work at night.

  22. We were not experienced with lighting points for our new place, and now after moving in for a year, are finding “dark spots” around the house and have had to use portable means of lighting.     Currently there is a task lamp in the study room which I used at night to study. It is rusty with paint chipping off. To make it worse, the light is not working. Do not want to disturb my family members by having the main light on. So taking my chance to win this.

  45. we are using normal fluorescent ceiling light WITHOUT the cover as we realized that the rooms look dim with the cover on.

    I have Myopia and is really afraid that my kids inherit my genes. And I have been reminding them of good eye care habits.     I do not have a table lamp currently. I use the ceiling lamp that’s already in my house. My house is not huge, so I have a small table in my parents bedroom for me to study. I do not want to disturb them with the light because I study till pretty late. With this 3M Task Lamp, I can study comfortably and at the same time do not cause any inconvenience to anyone.

    The current lighting condition at home is Halogen light..
    I wish to have 3M LED5000 Task Lamp for every member of our home so we can have better vision & take good care of our eyesight..especially my daughter who is in P1..long way to go & she loves to do rainbow loom, reading. It will be a blessing to have this..

    Oh yeah anyway, my lightning condition at my home is so so. I mean not that bad, but not that bright. But honestly, the brighter the better, and I need a table lamp for studying! Since I have minus 3.75 already T_T (For doing other things the light is ok lah)

  71. Every night, I have to guide my daughter on her school work, studies and school project. We currently using normal light, due to the position of the light, the shadow has block some of our table and we have difficulty to concentrate.
