I’ve always enjoyed flowers – both receiving and giving them. We’ve recently just moved to a new residence so I had this secret wish that somehow, somewhere I could buy (or better still, make my own) fresh floral wreath to adorn the home for the festive season. Well, Santa must have heard my wish and granted me an invite to Poppy’s Christmas Wreath Workshop!
Poppy Floral Studio is not new to us. David and I used to buy flowers from them when they were still in our hood. Started by a local female entrepreneur, Poppy is now an established and much sought after wedding florist and event stylist. Their new studio (where the floral workshops are conducted), housed in a black and white colonial bungalow at Old Birdcage Walk (such a beautiful road name ain’t it?) is such a tranquil and beautiful space. We almost felt we were transported into the outskirts of England on our drive there.
Sarah, Poppy’s Founder & Creative Director personally coached us in this Christmas Wreath workshops. The rustic wooden table was laden with fresh pine (freshly trimmed from Christmas trees), acorns, eucalyptus, maple leaves in hues of orange and gold, an assortment of berries and other ornaments for us to work on. It was a dream come true for flower lovers like me.
After a brief demo, we started work on the wreaths – twisting, cutting, pulling, styling the wreaths, with jazzy Christmas tunes playing in the background. In total, there were 3 parent-child pairs last Saturday. I love the fact that Sarah welcomes kids in her studio for this workshop, making this activity even more meaningful this Advent season.
After 2 hours or so, our wreaths were completed, all ‘pinterest-worthy’ in their unique ways!

Every time someone passes through the door hung with your handmade wreath, or glances at your dining room table spread with winter’s glory in the form of your unique candle and floral arrangement, they too are blessed by the time you took for yourself to express this holiday cheer.

In the wreath making workshop, we will be guiding you on how to build a beautiful Christmas Wreath using all kinds of interesting materials that holds up well for months! This class is also suitable for kids age 5 and above.
