Daddy posted on his FB the day we left, “a short getaway is still a getaway…”. How apt. We thank God that in the midst of crazy busy May, our family was able to book a flight and escape to nearby KL for the family wedding. We were also grateful that through our brother-in-law’s help, we were able to put up at a swanky 5-star hotel which eased my frazzled nerves of having to take care of a sick child on our travels.
Getting inspiration from the Twin Tower |
One evening, as we were winding down for bed, Dana busied herself with the complimentary stationery on the desk. She knew Daddy and Mommy were tired so she quietly doodled on the post-it notes then proceeded to create an impromptu pop-up ‘art’ corner right beside the bedside lamp!
Doodles and Drawings…of things and thoughts close to her heart… |
She drew a house, books, combs of bananas, stars, a wrapped gift and our family! |
All nicely posted up! |
As I glanced at her art corner, one little drawing caught my attention. It reads,
I am in her ‘BFF’ club! |
I was incredibly moved and a lump formed at my throat…I may not be many people’s BFF but I am my daughter’s BFF – and that’s all that matters! Me, the Mommy who reprimands, disciplines and sometimes loses my cool to yell at her; Me, the Mommy who’s not half as wacky and fun to be with as compared to Daddy; Me, the Mommy whose refrain to her requests seems to be ‘No’ all the time…yet she reserves a place for me in her BFF list (and above Daddy too!). At that instant, I vow to myself to cherish this ‘status’ and I promise to work harder at being her BFF so I can remain in this list for as long as I live.

That’s super sweet! I tell myself to cherish this time when the kids love me most too, and be bothered that that means they want me all.the.time. 😛

This is so so sweet of D. Did you keep the notes? I love the first pic by the way! I can imagine it being blown up onto a canvas and adorning her group-up room wall! A portrait but not in-your-face!
