2810804687_3fd232bd50We watched this smash-hit musical MAMMA MIA! LIVE in London’s West End in 2005 and couldn’t get enough of it. If you think the movie version starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried was good, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Set in a beach resort in the Mediterranean, MAMMA MIA! tells the story of Sophie, a bride-to-be with one wish: to have her absent father walk her down the aisle. After reading passages about three old lovers in her mom’s diary, Sophie sends each a wedding invitation in hopes of learning which is her dad. The arrival of the men from her past is surprising to Donna, Sophie’s fiercely independent mother, who prides herself on getting through life without a man, and highly amusing to Donna’s two best gal pals. The more Sophie and her mother struggle to find truth and understanding, the more it threatens to tear them apart and wreck Sophie’s dream wedding.

    Dancing Queen always have a special place in my heart. My parents used to run a shop selling cassette tapes, when my mum played ABBA songs and this song came out, I will be dancing away in the shop, oblivious to others’ presence. Currently I like Nina, Pretty Ballerina because it reminds me of the special dancing moments in the shop, now that I am older I have danced lesser and if I do its always when no one is around. I should be dancing again more often!

  25. I love Dancing Queen! it brought back lots of happy memory where the I played my instrument back in my secondary school days! I am so glad that our conductor brought this piece for us! we had our session practice and during the combine rehearsal, we are amazing! that piece of music sounds so jovial and enchanting!

    My first ABBA song is my favourite – Money Money Money! I would say it’s “moving”, but I think their music is more feel good than “touching” actually. I love this song because t was my first introduction to the realities of the world and the irony of money and success.

  30. My favourite ABBA song is “I have a dream”. My mother used to sing to me when I was a little girl. My mum is a great fan of ABBA. Way before the stage show Mamma Mia came, my mum would buy and own those records and she would sway with me. “I have a dream” song is my childhood song, especially I am a girl, I do believe in angels and everything good I see and such a positive song.

    I believe in fairy tales. I cross the sea…I have a dream.

  35. Dancing Queen 🙂 It was the only catchy song by ABBA on my 6-CD box set of oldies that I listened to when I was young. It certainly brings back good memories of my dad letting me reach up the CD player to switch to my favourite disc to play Dancing Queen 🙂

    My favourite ABBA song is Thank you for the music. I love music and the lyrics of the song speak very much about how my life has always been surrounded with music. As a little girl listening to my parents’ evergreens, acting in church musicals as a youth and young adult and now as a parent, I expose my kids to music all the time.

  43. Definitely Dancing queen! This is the song that gets us on our feet at the disco in our younger days (that’s like 20 years ago) the first dance..the first kiss..at places that are no longer around..places like Ridleys, madam Wong, Pleasuredome and even zouk mambo night!

    Years later, I saw the musical at esplanade with my sis who was back to Singapore for her vacation and we were dancing mad at our balcony seats! And then there was the movie which I watched couple of times and most recently just two years back, I watched the musical with my hubby in London! Really hope I can win the tickets this time, keeping all fingers n toes crossed! 😉

    I love the song ‘Slipping Through My Fingers” by ABBA .. the lyrics are so meaningful and I teared when I heard it for the first time .. I had two girls who are growing up too quickly and I can totally relate to the lyrics of this song ..
