This is the second instalment to our trip update to Gold Coast. I’ve been lagging in my blog posts so have to do lots of catch-ups!
After spending a night in Brisbane, we hire a car and drove to Gold Coast Sea World Resort. Driving in Queensland is a breeze with the aid of a GPS.
The Sea World Resort is great for kids, part of sea world & connected to it by a monorail.
We booked 2 nights’ in their newly refurbished Deluxe Room and enjoyed our stay there as its proximity meant that we could return to the hotel room during the afternoons for short rest.
Right at the doorstep of the resort is the the Monorail which is one of the oldest rides on the Gold Coast and is actually the first mono rail to be built in Australia. It’s a great way to get around the park and stops at convenient places along the way as well as connecting Sea World to the Sea World Resort.
After check-in, we went to explore Sea World! Dana was fascinated by marine creatures at the Touch Pool…Look Mommy! I can touch a Sea Star! 🙂
Next, we visited Shark Bay! It is the world’s largest man-made lagoon system for sharks. The two-level exhibit provides spectacular viewing for guests, allowing guests to come face to face with the large sharks, stingrays and a range of exotic tropical fish.
We watched the IMAGINE Dolphin Show, an interactive and education programme to inform audience of marine life preservation.
This is Dana’s favorite place in Sea World! The Sesame Street Beach was a heaven for kids. It had train and helicopter rides, merry-go-round, bird bouncer, and a splash zone.
Dana tried every ride available – Bert & Ernie’s Big Dive, Elmo’s Sea Subs and Big Bird Bounce!
She even gamely went on the Big Bird Bounce even though she barely met the height limit (90cm). We watched her with bated breath as she ascends up to a tall height (roughly about 5 storeys high) then plunged down swiftly. This is our girl’s 1st ever thrill ride and it sure won’t be her last! She was absolutely thrilled by the ride and couldn’t stop smiling! We were so proud of our little girl!
Next, we queued up for the Bert & Ernie’s Island Adventure Stage Show where all sesame street characters danced to familiar tunes. Dana danced along to her fav Sesame St friends like Big Bird, Ernie, Zoe, Grover, Cooking Monster and Elmo.
Dana enjoyed Sea World so much she’s been asking to return. If you’re looking for a fun-filled, fuss-free destination for your family, do consider Sea World at Gold Coast!
