Ever had one of those rare weekends where you have either virtually no plans or have decided to shelf aside less urgent ones so that we can devote time to what weekends are best for – being spontaneous? Well, rare as it is, we had one recently in the midst of weeks of whirlwind school holiday activities. It was a Sunday…we turned down several invites as we wanted to laze at home after church . Not wanting a precious afternoon like this to be whiled away, I decided at the drop of a hat to … [Read more...]

Home for Christmas…with IKEA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj3r_SU4140 A short video of how we put together a Ikea Christmas party right at home! All parents can attest that parenting is not easy. For us, it’s a daily reality that greet us when we step home: strewn books and toys, unmatched PJs, tears and mucus on bibs, piles of un-ironed laundry beckoning us…Mess is a part of parenting, especially since our children are young and very lively. I wanted badly to host a small Christmas party to bring the extended … [Read more...]
{Giveaway} First Dental Visit at the Children’s Dental Specialist

This can encourage early prevention and intervention from serious damage to our children’s teeth. What can you expect at your child’s first dental visit? During the dental consultation, the children will be orientated to the dental setting. They will be shown the dental chair and examination tools by the experienced children’s dental … [Read more...]
The Year in a Snap…with Orange Studios
Snap…and we’re done! I was moved when I saw the photos while sitting in the comfortable viewing room of Orange Studios. While watching the slideshow put together for our family by Ryan the photographer and his wife Winnie, I can’t help but to breathe a sigh of relief and pause. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFbFKkTa0oE It's ironic that even though I’ve shot thousands of photographs this year, I could rarely capture a good one of the family. It was made challenging as our little … [Read more...]
S.E.A. Aquarium – Merry Fishmas: Learn, Wish and Win this Christmas
We had family members visiting from the UK recently and they were keen to visit the S.E.A. Aquarium as they had heard much about it. Dana was eagerly looking forward to hosting her cousin whom she hasn't met in 2 years. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that over and above their usual exhibits, the S.E.A Aquarium has a special Christmas programme, 'Merry Fishmas' (1 Dec to 3 Jan 2016) for the festive season where it leverages on the year end holidays to allow families to … [Read more...]

Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop at Shangri-La – The kind Fairy Tales are made of…
There before my eyes, my daughter’s very own Gingerbread House. Complete with icing snow, snowmen, Santas, gummy bears, jellybeans, M&Ms and a couple of candy trees. It looks like something right out of Hansel and Gratel and would sit proudly on the hotel’s bakery shelf for sale! I’m being totally biased of course but then, given that an hour or two ago, I was seriously skeptical about how the Gingerbread House will turn out seeing how they first started out as slabs of plain brown … [Read more...]
Crazy Christmas – Have a wonderful, ROTFL* Christmas
Let’s face it…Christmas can be quite a stressful period for adults. Behind all that warm smiles and festive greetings hide the stresses of gift buying, jostling with the crowds (and traffic jams everywhere), occupying the kids (no thanks to school holidays), packing and unpacking (for those lucky ones who go on trips!) and finally to face the reality of paying the Christmas bills and getting the kids ready for another hectic school year. All that while being bombarded by the 10000th variation of … [Read more...]
What Christmas means to me…
What does Christmas mean to me? Actually the short answer to that is "Nothing”. Really. Nothing. The hyped-up commercialization of Christmas where everyone, from family members to colleagues, Christians or otherwise, exchange gifts while uttering ‘Merry Christmas’ has made this day where we commemorate the birth of Christ, into a feel-good merry-making event that has missed the mark by a far stretch. A quick visit to the Daiso store yesterday for some stationery, seeing the snaking queue … [Read more...]
