The Skechers brand of shoes from U.S.A needs no introduction. It is one of the most established consumer brand footwear that has been in the market for about 24 years but despite that, Skechers, the brand, hardly looks their age – their shoes are well-known to be cutting-edge hip, durable and comfortable. They are constantly re-inventing, and have every colour and design combinations that shout our individual styles and fit every customer’s individual footwear needs and functions, be it kids, teens, adults and retirees.

We were pleasantly surprised during a recent visit to Skechers’ ION Branch to see such an extensive range of shoe-types to meet diverse needs. While we’re well-acquainted with Skechers’ running shoes , children’s sparkling shoes and their popular ‘Bob’ range of walking shoes, Skechers also carry trendy, comfortable shoes for the following needs:

• Ankle high boots for hiking
• Working shoes
• Fitness shoes (Shape-up shoes)
• Sandals and more

Skechers also carry a range of sporting apparels, socks, accessories and even school bags to complete customers’ overall lifestyle needs.

The ION store, located at basement 4 of ION Shopping Center, showcases its extensive range of shoes, apparels and accessories neatly in its newly renovated retail store. The wide aisles make it a breeze to shop for good walking shoes for our upcoming travels. We like that there was ample seating for families to sit and try out the shoes in different colour combinations, sizes and styles.  The atmosphere in the store was upbeat, unhurried and very relaxed.

What made our shopping experience really memorable was the service. Despite the busy weekend crowd, the personable service we received was commendable. David has flat feet so we sought recommendation from the staff on the range of shoes which would alleviate his condition and sent the staff back and forth a good number of times to the storeroom to look for the right models.  The staff also patiently measured our kids’ feet sizes to ensure they get the best fit.  Honestly speaking, we hardly receive such good customer service in Singapore now.

The high level of service was repeated again at the Ngee Ann City branch where we went to obtain a particular size which was out of stock at the ION branch (the staff had offered to bring the shoe over to ION for us but we wanted to have lunch at Ngee Ann City so we took a short 5 min walk to the Ngee Ann store personally). There the staff greeted us warmly with big smiles and served us enthusiastically. They were also great with kids, making small talks with them and giving them tokens to redeem small toys in the in-house pin-ball machine so that we, parents can shop in peace. This, despite the weekend crowd swarming around them with multiple questions and requests.

At the end of the day, we were very pleased with our shopping experience at Skechers as we walked out proudly with our new purchases, including a very comfy, breathable mary janes with memory foam for myself, a mens’ relaxed lace-up boot for Daddy, a stylish Twinkle Toes high-cut ankle shoes for our 8 year old daughter and a cool, blinking Skech Air-lightz shoes for our ever-growing 22 month old Buddy. 

All set for our summer trekking vacation to Northern Europe!

More than attractive products and competitive pricing, discerning consumers these days expect retailers to provide that added personalised service.  That human touch will differentiate us from being served by robots. At Skechers, we not only enjoyed the option of choosing our individual style of footwear, the whole shopping experience was done in comfort and complemented by good service. Keep it up!
