Day #9 of the October Playbook Challenge encourages us to go Cloud Spotting – something I wish I had the time to do more often…
A shot taken en-route to Melbourne, Australia |
I vaguely remembered studying names of clouds in Geography lessons and enjoyed it. Whenever I fly, I love peeping out of the plane windows to admire the clouds. My fav place for cloud watching has got to be in Australia (where the skies are perpetually in mesmerizing shades of blue). For today’s challenge, I introduced Dana to 3 main types of clouds:
Cirrus – thin, long, wispy, strands of white clouds (like feathers). They are the highest clouds in the sky.
Stratus – thick, low-level, gray horizontal clouds that blanket the sky. They usually bring drizzle or rain.
Cumulus – puffy, white, fair-weather clouds (like cotton candies) that we see on sunny days. They are usually low in the sky.

I’ve been doing some cloud watching too as I drive down the ECP. Love the cumulus clouds. The best time to capture them would be sunset at the beach if possible.

Haha Angeline, I was too busy oohing and ahhing at the pictures to remember that I was supposed to identify clouds!
Dominique, keep your eyes on the road!!!

Wow, those are lovely shots! And it was a great idea to use your own photos to look at clouds, more personal and relevant this way! We loved “Little Cloud” too. 🙂

lovely post! I love cloud watching – we do it when we walk K to school.
We also love the pink cotton wool types at sunset.
