Dana was due for reviews with two specialists at the KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital – one for her busted chin and the other for her fractured toe. We were very relieved that the reviews were good and we decided to visit to Gardens By the Bay this evening.
After touring the conservatories, we headed to Supertree Dining Grove for a quick dinner. There were five dining options but we chose Casa Verde (the same folks behind Pepperoni and Canelé Pâtisserie – The Les Amis Group) as we enjoyed the food at its sister branch at Botanical Gardens. This time round, they didn’t disappoint too.
For appetizer, Daddy had his eyes on the ‘Soft Shell Crabs with Mango Salad‘ ($13.50). I am not a huge fan of soft shell crabs but this combination won me over through & through! The soft shell crab is succulent and goes extremely well with the slightly tangy, sweet and spicy mango citrus dressing. I also liked its simple and colourful presentation. Wish they gave 2 instead of just 1 soft shell crab though as it was really delish. Even Dana enjoyed it – good choice for a starter Daddy!
For main course, Dana fancied Pizza so we ordered the ‘Rocket Parma Ham Pizza’ to share. When it arrived, we were surprised by its huge portion (enough to feed a family of 4)! For $17, it’s a steal. We love the thinly shaven mozzarella cheese, the crunchy rocket salads and not-overly salty parma ham. While it was definitely better than your neighbourhood Pizza Hut offering, Daddy commented the dough was slightly thick for his liking and he still prefer Pepperoni’s.
My choice of main course was a ‘Marinara Spaghetti ala Alio Olio‘ ($16.00). It came al-dente with large doses of garlic-infused olive oil, fresh parsley and just the right amount of chilli to give the pasta a lift without being too spicy. I was pleased with its generous mix of seafood – my pasta came with huge mussels, scallops, calamari, clams and very juicy firm prawns! Daddy and I were very satisfied with the pasta and relished every bit of it. Finally, we’ve found another cafe which serve pasta that can rival Spaghetti’s!
The environment in Supertree Dining Grove is casual and relaxed, perfect for families to dine and rest your weary legs after all the walking in the Gardens. The air-conditioning is a much welcomed reprieve from the humid weather and scorching sun (if you visit during the day or early evening like we did). Prices at Casa Verde are mid-range, friendly on the pockets and good value for money. If you happen to visit the Gardens, you now know a good dining option!
After dinner, we hurried over to catch the 7.45pm light show and ascended to the OCBC Skyway before calling it a night, minutes before the sky poured! It has been an enjoyable evening – lovely scenery, exotic plants, yummy food, great company – there’s nothing more we can ask for 🙂

I should try that next time! Peach Garden was not too bad, but quite expensive and they don’t serve water.

The soft shell crab looks delicious. And with mango? Interesting! No chance to go gardens by the bay yet, will try to remember to go this restaurant IF I step foot there.

Hi Amie, yes if your family likes Italian food, Casa Verde’s a good dining option.
Hi Edlyn, how have you been? Casa Verde doesn’t serve water too (I wish they did!) so we ended up ordering Coke Light to complete the meal 🙂
