Stroll. Saunter. Squeal
I can’t recall when was the last time we did this – taking a slow, relaxed stroll along the Singapore River, taking in the views and the vibes of Clarke Quay, Robertson Quay and Boat Quay all in one. Unhurried, with no particular agenda, except to enjoy a weekend together as a family.
Family Moments at Park HotelClarke Quay
The Covid-19 situation has made work for the hubby and me busier as we had to make lots of contingency plans at work. When I heard that Park Hotel Clarke Quay is offering a ‘Family Moments’ Staycation Package, I took it up immediately as I felt we needed a change of environment to spend some quality time together as a family.
Family Moments at Park Hotel Clarke Quay offers:
- Complimentary stay for children under 12 years old
- Complimentary daily breakfast
- Complimentary lunch and dinner for two children under 12 years old from kid’s menu (when accompanied by paying adults at Porta Restaurant)
- 20% off Food and Beverage purchase at Porta and Cocobolo Poolside Bar + Grill
- Complimentary upgrade to Deluxe Rooms on weekends
- Complimentary unlimited wi-fi for multiple devices
- Free parking
- Best Rate Guarantee
Just for the school holidays in Singapore, the hotel has lined up some small group activities below to cater to the kids:
Games & Activities Room (14 – 22 March 2020)
2pm – 5pm: Fold Towel Origami, Learn Paper Origami, Card Games and Pickup Sticks, Colour & Doodle
5pm onwards: Movie Fiesta
Stay:
As a family, we welcome interconnecting rooms as it offers a good balance of privacy and close supervision of kids. The interconnecting Superior rooms at the hotel are compact, and clean, each with their own bathrooms, wardrobes and TVs. The rooms are not huge but we were able to tuck our cabin-sized luggage in the wardrobes and keep the walkway clear.
Dine:
With its al-fresco Spanish-styled décor, Porta exudes a cheerful, casual, mediterranean feel without being presumptuous. This along with its delicious and healthy menu makes it an ideal dining option for families.
For lunch, Porta serves a good mix of western and fast-food (read: burger, fries, fish and chips etc.) options. Here is where Porta truly shows its ability to whip up dishes appealing to the kids, the general crowd, the health-conscious and everyone in between.
In addition to its modern European menu, Porta partners a local social enterprise group promoting sustainability and plant-based vegan lifestyle, Green Monday. The ‘Green Monday Menu’ really took us by surprise. It includes the ‘Beyond Burger’ and ‘Beyond Sausage’ made from plant-based protein. Even the cheese is made from plants but every dish tastes so amazingly delicious. The Green Monday menu is definitely a must-try.
Play:
From a good-sized swimming pool, to jacuzzi and the gym, the hotel has it all. In fact, we were were glad that the pool is large enough the kids to swim and frolic around without intruding into the space of the largely Caucasian guests sun-bathing on the lounge chairs during our stay.
For a small fee, adult guests can rent one of their bicycles for up to an hour each time to ride around the Singapore River and hotel surroundings. And this is what we did on a lazy Sunday morning. We stole an hour away from the kids (kept them entertained in the room with a movie of their choice from Netflix) then cycled down Robertson Quay, taking in the crisp morning air, watching families walk their dogs and enjoying leisurely brunch by the river. How idyllic. If only we can do this every Sunday, I wished.
Summary of Experience:
We don’t have to travel far to have a memorable family time. Sometimes, keeping things simple helps us to focus on the significant – our relationships. From taking a leisurely stroll along Singapore’s historic river to a relaxing dip in the pool and savoring the outstanding cuisines of Porta restaurant, Park Hotel Clarke Quay has it all planned out for a much-needed family staycation, right in the city fringe.
Letter to the GM:
The hotel has many going for it – the location is a boon: located on city fringe yet far from the traffic and maddening crowd. Its proximity to historic stretch of the Singapore River gives families a unique experience of Singapore. Cosy and convenient, the hotel has much to offer and we look forward to see you expand its repertoire of unique experiences for families.

Always wanted to be a tourist in my own country but not fulfilled due to busy schedule and frequent traveling for work. With COVID happening, all business trips are put on hold and would really want to have this giveaway to spend time with my family. Had our wedding pictures taken at Clark Quay area before Park Hotel was built, so it will be fun to have some then and now photos for a 20 years’ challenge. And icing on the cake to dine at Portal Restaurant as I have just completed a 14 days’ “Letter of absences” where I choose to stay at home in case I am infected. So time for celebration for “Covid negative” with some yummy food!!

In times where COVID-19 is the ubiquitious topic almost everywhere, having a family staycation is a fantastic idea. It would be a great time for family bonding.
Park Hotel Clarke Quay being situated at the heart of Clarke Quay would allow us to enjoy the spectacular view of Singapore River.
What I loved most is the interconnecting rooms which not only allow us to monitor our young kids and at the same time not forgoing privacy.
I like the amenities with the adjoining jacuzzi pools where I can rejuvenate myself and be carefree for that few moments!
Last but not least, the Porta restaurant have a wonderful menu which serves seemingly scrumptious western food and it looks very appealing to families with young kids!
