I conducted an impromptu gardening activity for Dana and her playmates this evening and they had a jolly good time getting their hands ‘soiled’! We planted 4 types of seeds in total – basil, coriander, xiao bai cai and baby kangkong. Let’s hope the plants will grow and the girls can get the chance to harvest the crops!

Hi Ai
I was surprised the girls were so enthusiastic about gardening. I took the chance to teach them about turn-taking and how to care for the seeds at this early stage (basically warning them not to drown the seeds due to their over-watering) 🙂 It was a fun afternoon spent with neighbours 🙂
What a lovely idea! Great possibilities indeed. I’ve always been wanting to plant small plants like these, but feel as if I need to wait till baby boy is a little older…maybe I shouldn’t wait after all! 🙂
Hi June!
We bought a Kangkong plant kit, few spare trays and 2 packets of potting mix from this farm http://www.kokfahfarm.com.sg/FarmVisit last weekend with the intention of supplementing Dana’s preschool curriculum on plants this term. It turned out to be very rewarding as we invited her playmates to join in the fun! You can bring Vera and Javier to the weekend farm for a visit. There’s a big koi pond, an aviary (with talking parrots!)and fresh market produce every weekend. It’s worth a blog post itself 🙂
