'You have not chose one another, but I have chosen you for one another' ~ CS Lewis, The Four Loves. My dearest Dana, I'm not sure when you're gonna be reading this. Whichever time it will be, it would be in God's perfect timing. You're turning 6 this year and getting quite inquisitive about the world around you. Just the other day you wanted to chart a family tree. Before we go too far flung into the foliage of the family tree, I thought that it's apt that we talk about the 'root' - Daddy … [Read more...]
Merrily merrily…life is but a dream….
Those who are close to me know that I’m a firm believer in the ‘A Date with Dad’ idea championed by "Focus on the Family'". Ever since Dana was a wee baby, I’ve never turned away a chance to ‘date’ my daughter Dana, one to one, just me and her out and about, enjoying the bonding.Last Friday evening, when the wife had to attend a company function, tired as I was from a hectic week of back to back 12-13 hour work days, I jumped at the chance to bring my daughter on a date again. It was an … [Read more...]
Motivational Monday: Why be a Parent….
Came across an honest but inspirational take on parenting posted by one of our church mates on his Facebook wall yesterday. We've known David and his lovely wife Phoebe for about 4 years now and always touched by their positivity and sincerity. David is an exceptional Ipad artist and I know his introspective piece on 'Why be a parent' would resonate with all parents loud and strong. I'm reproducing it here with his permission. "Once in a while, somebody I know would ask … [Read more...]

Reminiscing 2013 – The year through our lens….
In a flash, we've come to the last day of the year. It has been overwhelmingly hectic but God has kept us safe through our coming in and going out. Here's are some of the year's significant moments through our lens: January - Dana had her ears pierced at the Kids' Clinic@Bishan and we've no regrets! The Heart of a Preschool Teacher
Teachers play an important role in fostering the intellectual and social development of children during their formative years. Whether in nursery, kindergarten up to primary and secondary school, teachers play an integral part in developing our young into responsible adults. In fact, the younger the children, the greater influence the teachers have. They are shaping the minds of young children during their most impressionable years. We are very blessed to have met many dedicated teachers in … [Read more...]
Wordless Wednesday: What your Child thinks of you…
A fellow Mommy Blogger Lyn shared this video on facebook yesterday. I teared watching it. On too many mornings, my fuse has been short, my temper great and my words harsh. God is convicting me to exercise more self-control, more love and more patience because despite all my shortcomings, my daughter still can see the good in me. I have so much, so much to be thankful for and by God's grace, I will see myself transformed in a new light. A New Perspective For Moms … [Read more...]
Not without my daughter…
A post dedicated to our firstborn Nathaniel, born and died on 10 October 2004. He would have been 9 years old today.I rushed to the clinic only to see my wife lying there. The same place where over ultrasounds the last few weeks offered life, hope and anticipation…now these words, the same place, takes on a different twist – “Please survive, please hang on. Don’t go. Will he be ok?”Within a few hours, my wife was whisked to NUH where she was warded in an isolation ward, trying … [Read more...]
