It was a Saturday evening. In fact, it was already late at 9:40pm to be exact - way past the Open House's stipulated closing time of 9 p.m. I had just finished a late dinner in Vivocity with my daughter Dana after a 2-hour tour of the RSS Tenacious when I saw scores of Navy officers still busy manning their booths and engaging the public. From the 'Rope Works' – where an officer was patiently teaching an elderly man the intricacies of tying a knot, to the 'Photo Booth' where Navy officers were … [Read more...]
Return to S.E.A Aquarium – A Special Book Launch!
Book launch: ‘Sam, Sebbie and Di-Di-Di & Xandy: Return to the S.E.A. Aquarium’ and the Ocean Dream Experience Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” ― Benjamin Franklin It seemed so surreal, even for an adult like me to be there, in front of the world’s biggest aquarium tank, the Ocean Dome, watching the vast variety of marine life swimming leisurely in front of us and right at that moment, the book jumps to life – David Seow’s latest book: Return to … [Read more...]
{Giveaway} iFly Singapore – Soaring High with Kids
As long as I have the use of my voice, I will sing and read to my children. As long as I have the use of my legs, I will travel with them. As long as i have the use of my hands, I will hold theirs...and fly." ~ David Sim. As parents, particularly busy working parents, we treasure any opportunities to spend quality time and to create unique memories with our children. As a Father, I’ve dared myself to ride all sorts of roller coasters with my daughter even though … [Read more...]
RSAF Open House 2016 – Defending Our Skies
Two different sounds: It was just slightly about 50 years ago that we heard two very different sounds emanating from the skies above us. In fact, there may be still those who can still remember those 2 different sounds. One is when the Japanese bombers flew in to ripped through our towns and tore up our lives. The other, is when the British withdrew their troops sending scores of their planes flying away from this little isle that was once so strategic and important to them but now, clearly, … [Read more...]
iFly Singapore – Anyone can Fly
We have walked past this place in Sentosa countless times since she was much younger and the iFly Indoor Skydiving building has always caught her imagination and fancy. But because she was below the age limit then, we told her to wait…until now. As part of her 8th birthday, we have arranged for our daughter, Dana to experience iFLY. To make it more meaningful and memorable, we invited two of her best friends along. As it was gonna be a new experience for us all, I wasn't too sure … [Read more...]
Singapore Heritage Murals: The ever-growing collection by Yip Yew Chong
We first met Yew Chong (Y.C) back last year during an impromptu visit to check out his murals at Everton Road. There he was, unassumingly painting and adding the finishing touches to the Barber mural at Everton Road, under the humid September sun. Take a sneak peek at his murals here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8XS9lN432Y Since meeting the artist himself, we’ve taken quite a liking to his murals. Not only are they exceptionally well-painted, his attention to details and the … [Read more...]

Blossom Beats at Gardens By The Bay
We were toying with the idea of booking a flight to Japan to witness the Cherry blossoms in April. However due to various reasons, the plan didn't materialise. When we received the Press Release that there will be a Cherry blossoms floral display at Gardens By The Bay, I couldn't be happier. My dream of experiencing 'Hanami' under the Sakuras in Japan may not be able to come true (yet) but hey, I am now able to see them in person, right here in Singapore! More than 20 … [Read more...]
Gardens By The Bay: Gardens of Wonder Children Festival
It was the first day of the March school holidays. Even though I had to work yesterday morning, I brought the the children to our favourite Gardens By The Bay for their Gardens of Wonder Children's Festival in the evening. When we arrived at 6pm, we were heartened to see The Gardens teeming with families - parents, kids, grandparents, all out enjoying some quality bonding time together on a Saturday evening. There are families jogging, roller-blading, scooting, having fun at the waterplay … [Read more...]
Chingay 2016 – The Jewel of our Multicultural Celebration
If there’s one community event that was memorable for us in SG50, it was Chingay 2015. So it is with great excitement when we knew we were invited to be part of Chingay 2016 again. Well, our expectations were surpassed in every way. Chingay 2016 is bigger, better with not one but a few fiery dragons to boot. There is even a huge 'balloon' dragon ‘gliding’ gracefully through the air and interacting with the crowds seating on the spectator stands at the F1 pit building. Chingay is not only … [Read more...]
