I read once that gift-giving is the cement of social relationships. A gift may be inspired by sympathetic feelings or feelings of moral obligations or indebtedness to another party. In other instances, a gift is an outward expression of your fondness and love for someone and your desire to strengthen that bond. I have always enjoyed buying gifts for others (Yes, you guessed it: gift-giving is ranked my top love language) but the hubs happens to share a different 'philosophy, so this … [Read more...]
Wordless Wednesday: Faith
As a mom of an only child, I worry about what the future brings. How would the girl grow up, what school would she attend and who can she call her own when we are no longer by her side. Everytime such thoughts assault me, this old hymn never fails to grant me peace:"Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wondrous face. And the things of this world, will grow strangely dim...In the light of His Glory and Grace."Grant me more faith Lord, to believe that our lives … [Read more...]
Motivational Monday: Moments that Matter (Stepping out of our Comfort Zones)
Moments... It's not only the time we spend with our kids, it's the moments we create that truly matter.Making Moments that Matter...Like most busy dads, I try to carve out as much time as I can to spend with our fast-growing daughter but I must admit, at times I am just just 'there' - sending her here, sending her there (i.e. for parties, playdates and classes); stand around here, look around there....It's very tempting to be just passively be 'there' and assume the duty's done.Today being … [Read more...]
Thankful Tuesday: Revisiting Dana’s Infancy to Toddlerhood
It's Tuesday and I'm thankful for the relaxing free & easy holiday enjoying the sights & sounds in Taiwan, where we intentionally slowed down our pace, threw our agendas to the wind and simply enjoyed each other's company as a family. As parents, we always lament that our children are growing up way too fast and we wish we can slow the clock so they'll stay forever cute and innocent...but it was only when we chanced upon this video (stored in our old PC hard disk) few days ago that it … [Read more...]

A Fabulous 4th Birthday at Amazonia!
We hadn't planned on holding a party for Dana's 4th birthday this year. But the Princess had attended 2 parties previously at Amazonia and endearingly requested that she would love to have her 4th Birthday Bash at The Amazonia. Being the typical indulgent parents with no heart to disappoint our daughter, we diligently paid a visit to Great World City one weekend, signed up as an Amazonia Member and before hubby knew it, plans were under way for a Fab 4th Birthday … [Read more...]
A Fabulous 4th Birthday (In School)!
We celebrated Dana's 4th Birthday in grand style this year. Kicking off her celebrations was a simple party in her kindergarten. Before April dawned, Mommy has hatched an ambitious plan to bake Dana a gorgeous Rainbow Cake similar to the one I saw on this website. This was no easy undertaking and Mommy spent many nights after work making sure all required ingredients are purchased and laid out. The week leading to the class party was filled with intensive baking and … [Read more...]
