I've been feeling down ever since Dana broke her toe on Monday...For those in the know, this is her second 'mishap' since July (where she busted her chin). The 'superstitious' side of me keeps thinking that we might be under some kind of 'spiritual' attack...I guessed the little one can sense my moodiness so she's been extra obedient, extra loving and extra cooperative this past one week of being home bound. Despite her discomfort and immobility, I caught her on … [Read more...]
Wordless Wednesday: When Alice came to town…
I remembered reading 'Alice in Wonderland' as one of the texts in our Children's Literature Class in University. Recently, they were in town and of course, I was more than happy to leverage on this occasion to introduce Dana to this Classic Children's Story. Dana attended Alice's Tea Party and had a fabulously fun time playing games and interacting with characters. She now knows the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit and of course Alice and the story has sort of … [Read more...]
Thankful Tuesday: Getaway to Get Together…
We just got back from a short getaway to Bangkok...a destination which we last visited in 2000 as a young couple...I'm thankful that despite hubby's hectic workload, he managed to set aside few days to grant my desire for a regional getaway...we've both been feeling we've neglected each other of late and this trip, though short, was a good one. We visited new sites, tried new cuisines and even indulged in Thai massages two days in a row...something which we've never done before. So I'm thankful … [Read more...]
Motivational Monday – Do you ZUMBA?
I've been participating in A Juggling Mum's Motivational Monday Linky Party for a while now but have not devoted a post to my well-being. As a mom, our lives revolve around our family and children but I agree with fellow Mommy Bloggers - Susan, Ruth and June that we do need to slow down, reevaluate our priorities and take better care of ourselves. I have been lamenting to the hubs for the longest time that we should start an exercise regime so as to be trim and fit but I've never done anything … [Read more...]
Around the World in 18 Days: Taiwan!
All Swans are White… One of the reasons I love to travel is, like most, to discover new things - new places, attractions, culture, people and be inspired and enriched by the whole experience of discovery. Almost everything in the modern world, I believe, can attest to the influences from the Western World (primarily the American and British Culture) – fashion, finance, entertainment, education, business… For me, anything else would be a poor copy. It didn’t help that, growing up, I was … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: Fab Viet Food!
The hubs has been to Vietnam on business trips and absolutely full of praises for Vietnamese Cuisine. Back home, a mommy friend heard that we've been searching for decent Vietnamese Pho in Singapore and promptly recommended us to try this chic new restaurant in the heart of town.We headed to NUOC on a weekday lunch and were not disappointed. The restaurant was elegantly decked out in chinois Saigon style and the service was attentive but non-intrusive. The menu was extensive and offered … [Read more...]
Wordless Wednesday: Dance like no one’s watching…
The Princess and her classmates performed an inspiring Flamenco Dance at the Kindy Concert last Saturday which made all parents swell with pride. So often, we (adults) carry the burden of the world's opinions and perceptions but the children have this timeless reminder for us:Dance, like no one is watching...Love, like you'll never be hurt...Sing, like no one is listening...Live, like it's heaven on earth. Linking up with Sakura Haruka's … [Read more...]

PRESS-STICK-FIXED You press it, roll it, stick it and fix it! The possibilities are endless!I was excited to receive the invitation to review this ingenious learning 'toy' which has taken USA by storm. Once Dana opened the package, she has been playing with it during her 'quiet time' in the evenings. Looking at her interest and motivation, I knew we had uncovered a winner in Wikki Stix. HeART Studio – Art from the Heart!
Most of us instinctively know that art is important for our children. According to educational psychologists, creating art expands a child's ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art help to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills such as fine motor skills, problem solving skills and communication skills that benefit a child's all round development. Daddy and I … [Read more...]
