Dedicated to our children, Dana and Alexander Dear children, While we pray that God will grant us the blessing of long life to be around when YOU celebrate your own wedding anniversaries, this post is just in case we can’t be there. We live in a world of constant changes. I can only imagine that when you two are adults, your world would be changing so much faster than ours. While some change is good, there are aspects of life that require a lot of work NOT to change. These a … [Read more...]
Why We Love Popsical Remix – A Review
Daddy and daughter bonding over BTS, all thanks to Popsical Remix! Perfect for Family Bonding "Are you sure?" I asked my hubby as he was setting up the system he brought home to surprise me and the kids. "This small round thing is a KARAOKE system?" In no time, I was waving a microphone in my hand and singing to my favourite JJ Lin and Ed Sheeran tunes together with my kids. Complete with original tracks, music videos and disco lights. I was sold. My family loves to … [Read more...]
NDP 2017: 5 Things You Need To Know
National Day Parade gets me choked up every single time. As a family, we would camp out with out kids at various vantage points in Marina come weekends in July and August, just to soak in the NDP revelry. Once a year on National Day (more so than any other day in the calendar), we are reminded how fortunate we are to be citizens of this country and how we should never take our progress, peace and prosperity for granted. After we became parents, we would always use National Day to … [Read more...]
Mothers’ Day 2016: Where there’s a will…will there be a way?
“Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” ― Mitch Albom Birthday. Happy? Whenever Mothers’ Day draws near, it also signifies that my birthday is just round the corner. Yes, I was born on Mothers’ Day so I always tell my friends how ironic it is that my route to Motherhood took so many twists and turns. This year, as my birthday swings around again in May, I decided to sit the husband down to discuss some ‘important' plans. The fact that we are both not getting any younger … [Read more...]
On Our Top 10 Most Popular Singapore Blogs Award 2015 Win
By any account it was a long and lousy day. Due to some contingencies at work, the day had stretched into the evening and the evening into night. Plans to have dinner with Angie and attend the Singapore Blog Awards night together had to be shelved. By the time I reached home, the kids were fast asleep – kind of like the same way I left them when I left for work early in the morning at 6:30am. It is exactly this sort of day that inspired me to write – a day in the life of a working parent, j … [Read more...]
National Day Parade (NDP) 2015 – Soaking in the Action at the Fringe
Here it is, finally! The event the whole country has been waiting for: The 2015 National Day Parade to commemorate Singapore’s SG50 Jubilee year. For us, we are continuing our family’s little ‘tradition’ to chase, or to catch the fireworks and the aerial displays. We were thrilled to know that although the celebration proceedings has moved to the Padang – site of the first National Day Parade, the fireworks and the position of the general aerial displays have not changed much. In fact, there a … [Read more...]
A Brand New Beginning
Eagle-eyed readers and friends have noticed that the usernames in our social media channels have been updated surreptitiously today. Our blog 'PrincessDanaDiaries' started as a personal online diary to document Dana's growth and share her photos with relatives living overseas. In it, I jotted down baby weaning recipes and her monthly milestones in the hope that it will become a treasury of beautiful memories for our daughter. Over time, the blog grew; we made friends, formed relationships with … [Read more...]
A tribute…to the people of NDP 2014!
Each year, I look forward to the arrival of August for one reason: National Day. Today, Singapore celebrates its 49th National Day, what a journey it has been for the NDP organising committee. From rehearsal to rehearsal, every show is nothing short of spectacular. This year will most likely be the last (since 2007) that the celebrations will be held against the magnificent backdrop of modern Singapore’s Marina Bay and CBD skyline which I find symbolic because it puts into perspective how f … [Read more...]
For the people, by the people, of the people – National Day Parade 2014
Same same but different this time around. This is perhaps one of the most difficult post for me to write. Why? Well, I’ve experienced a myriad of activities over the past month or so that has left me a tad overwhelmed. I suspect primarily that it has brought out the ‘little boy’ within me. I mean how can a ‘little boy’ contain his excitement when he had the opportunity to go on-board an actual warship and was taken on a Fast Craft Utility (FCU) ride during the annual ‘Navy@Vivo’ event. The ex … [Read more...]
NDP 2014 – Power, Precision and Passion
I’ve had several juvenile misconceptions cleared over the weekend. Every year, there would be the awe-inspiring, thundering aerial flypast by the fighter jets during Singapore’s National Day Parade. I've always assumed that:Photo Credit1) Due to the small air space that Singapore has, surely our government would have asked our friendly neighbours in Malaysia and Indonesia for some leeway into THEIR airspace so that OUR FIGHTER JETS can execute their maneuvers well. 2) These top fig … [Read more...]
