Experience and Perspective As outbreaks of new cases and variants ebb and flow, so these regimes can also beexpected to come and go. That is the price of living with a disease that has not yetsettled into its endemic state. "The new normal is already here. Get used to it" The Economist, 18 Dec. 2021 Travel, near or far, is very much part of most Singaporean’s lifestyle. Although the world is opening-up to travel again and VTL regime may not be strictly in place, health check … [Read more...]
Teen, Transitions and Travel – Reflection on 2021 and ‘Pandemic Parenting’
2021. A year wrought with sweat, tears and prayers to make family life work. Before it ended, the Husb shared with me his reflections for the year. I asked for him to pen it down and here it is: The ‘Multi-Tasking Working Parents Task Force’ At this point of writing, I’m not too sure if ‘Happy New Year’ is a phrase I’d like to wish others especially since we will enter the 3rd year of this long drawn global pandemic. Truth be told, there were other major ‘shifts’ on the home … [Read more...]

My Dyson Supersonic Experience
Gleeful Faces and a ‘Conspiracy’ I’ve heard and read so much about this hairdryer and now it’s been presented to me! Along with 3 gleeful faces, one of which was the ‘conspirator’ - the hubby no less, who had secretly planned this as an early Mother’s Day and Birthday present for me, and kept it hidden in the house with the kids’ help. The ‘Candy Store’ and the Mother’s Life Holding the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer in my hands, I’m like a kid in a candy store, hardly able to contain my … [Read more...]
A Letter to our Children, on our 20th Wedding Anniversary
Dedicated to our children, Dana and Alexander Dear children, While we pray that God will grant us the blessing of long life to be around when YOU celebrate your own wedding anniversaries, this post is just in case we can’t be there. We live in a world of constant changes. I can only imagine that when you two are adults, your world would be changing so much faster than ours. While some change is good, there are aspects of life that require a lot of work NOT to change. These … [Read more...]
Why We Love Popsical Remix – A Review
Perfect for Family Bonding "Are you sure?" I asked my hubby as he was setting up the system he brought home to surprise me and the kids. "This small round thing is a KARAOKE system?" In no time, I was waving a microphone in my hand and singing to my favourite JJ Lin and Ed Sheeran tunes together with my kids. Complete with original tracks, music videos and disco lights. I was sold. My family loves to sing. In fact we sing a lot, particularly in the car. Occasionally, we … [Read more...]
NDP 2017: 5 Things You Need To Know
National Day Parade gets me choked up every single time. As a family, we would camp out with out kids at various vantage points in Marina come weekends in July and August, just to soak in the NDP revelry. Once a year on National Day (more so than any other day in the calendar), we are reminded how fortunate we are to be citizens of this country and how we should never take our progress, peace and prosperity for granted. After we became parents, we would always use National Day to … [Read more...]
Mothers’ Day 2016: Where there’s a will…will there be a way?
“Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” ― Mitch Albom Birthday. Happy? Whenever Mothers’ Day draws near, it also signifies that my birthday is just round the corner. Yes, I was born on Mothers’ Day so I always tell my friends how ironic it is that my route to Motherhood took so many twists and turns. This year, as my birthday swings around again in May, I decided to sit the husband down to discuss some ‘important' plans. The fact that we are both not getting any younger … [Read more...]
On Our Top 10 Most Popular Singapore Blogs Award 2015 Win
By any account it was a long and lousy day. Due to some contingencies at work, the day had stretched into the evening and the evening into night. Plans to have dinner with Angie and attend the Singapore Blog Awards night together had to be shelved. By the time I reached home, the kids were fast asleep – kind of like the same way I left them when I left for work early in the morning at 6:30am. It is exactly this sort of day that inspired me to write – a day in the life of a working parent, … [Read more...]
National Day Parade (NDP) 2015 – Soaking in the Action at the Fringe
Here it is, finally! The event the whole country has been waiting for: The 2015 National Day Parade to commemorate Singapore’s SG50 Jubilee year. For us, we are continuing our family’s little ‘tradition’ to chase, or to catch the fireworks and the aerial displays. We were thrilled to know that although the celebration proceedings has moved to the Padang – site of the first National Day Parade, the fireworks and the position of the general aerial displays have not changed much. In fact, there … [Read more...]
