My daughter ‘drove’ me around today. Round and round. She was steering the Go Kart and negotiating the bends, avoiding the kerbs and other cars with me, seated by her side controlling the accelerator and brakes. I had not expected it but thanks to Kartright Speedway, Dana had her first taste of driving a Go Kart and she absolutely LOVED it. Apart from the Skyline Luge@Sentosa, Go Karting now ranks highly on one of our favourite parent and child bonding activities! Our 1st Daddy and Child Go … [Read more...]
Cirque du Soleil – Totem
‘Wow! Wow! Wow!’ This and the fact that I couldn’t close my mouth even if I wanted to were the two constant reactions to every single acts in TOTEM, Cirque Du Soleil’s brand new show which is now on Singapore’s shores. Judging from the thunderous claps reverberating all around the Grand Chapiteau (the iconic Blue and Yellow Big Top), I can safely say, I’m not alone. After all, this is the world’s most famous circus and the largest theatrical producer in the world. Based in Montreal … [Read more...]
Going Local with Le Creuset: ChickPea Chicken Curry
In the multiracial society we live in, curry is the ONE unifying dish that is enjoyed by all races represented in Singapore. It is also of the most requested dish at my extended family's gathering. I grew up eating my beloved Grandma's Chicken Curry. That's why back home, we've been trying to train our daughter Dana's taste buds to start enjoying spicy food, using curry as a start. Instead of sugar, we've been encouraging her to dip her fav prata into the curry … [Read more...]
Colour You Happy RICE Bento Workshop
When I received the invitation to attend an exclusive Bento-making session with Little Miss Bento and RICE, my interest was piqued immediately. I have been a follower of Little Miss Bento's FB and Instagram for years and admired her nifty food art creations for long but RICE? What is RICE? The only other clue in the invite was that the RICE team from Denmark will be at the workshop and so I googled. Instantly, it clicked. RICE is the brand of colourful home-ware items (think cups, spoons, … [Read more...]
Saturday Night Fever – A Dazzling, Delightful, Disco Date Night
When I knew that Saturday Night Fever The Musical was coming to Singapore, I was both excited as well as apprehensive. You see, next to a slew of family-oriented musicals (think Sound of Music, Mary Poppins etc), Saturday Night Fever was THE other movie that has shaped my growing years. The gritty story of a young man strutting the streets of Brooklyn and the dance floor in search of his own identity was a welcome change for me - this other young man at the cusp of his … [Read more...]

Rockin’ Good Time with Drypers Drypants!
Buddy turned 1 years old last month. He spends a large part of his day at home with my Mum while I am at work so I find myself amazed by the speed of his physical developments. He weighs nearly 12kg now, and is so mobile now that he no longer is content to stay in his play yard or cot for longer than 10 minutes. These are what he can do at 13 months: A crew cut for our active Buddy cos he perspires perpetually! claps and smiles to welcome us when he sees us step … [Read more...]
Singin’ in the Rain – Toe-tapping, Splish-splashing, Side-splitting Musical!
Like most, what comes to mind when we hear of 'Singin’ in the Rain' is the iconic scene of screen legend Gene Kelly totally soaked and dancing in the rain to the infectious title tune but beyond that, we've only got scant impressions of what the musical is about. But after last night, I’m happy to say that for this seasoned musical-going family, not anymore. Most musicals that have graced the stage of the MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore have reputations that preceded them, … [Read more...]
Going Local with Le Creuset: Red Wine Chicken
Le Creuset (pronounced as 'luh-croo-say', meaning "the cauldron") is a French cookware manufacturer best known for its colorfully-enameled cast-iron cookware "French Casserole Ovens", also known as "Dutch Ovens". Whenever I shop at local departmental stores like Tangs or Robinsons, I would inadvertently walk by a shelf or two of these visually stunning Le Creuset cookware whom those friends of mine who own them would wax lyrical about. Imagine our ecstasy when we … [Read more...]
Mothers’ Day Blocking Printing Workshop at Fox Fashion
The Mothers' Day Weekend was also my Birthday weekend. It kicked off to a great start when we attended the Block Printing Workshop organised by Fox Fashion in collaboration with Fictive Fingers. As Mothers, we don't expect gifts of any kind but a handcrafted gift warms the heart like none other. What made the workshop even more special were the distinctive pattern stamps that first originated from hand drawings then painstakingly crafted by the pair of sisters, Hani and Aishah behind … [Read more...]
