Buddy turned 3 last Friday on 23 June 2017. Due to our Iceland trip, I did not have time to plan for his actual day celebration. By coincidence, Mommy Kai Lee, a Mom of 2 who bakes at CATivatingcakeandcupcake got in touch with us through our blog's FB page. Since she comes highly recommended by our friend May (of A Million Little Echoes), I got acquainted with Kai Lee through whatsapp. Soon, I was won over by her enthusiasm and decided to outsource Buddy's school … [Read more...]

A letter to our son as he turns 3!
For some reasons, the 3rd birthday is an important milestone in my books. Partly because I still have in my possession, a faded yellowish b/w photograph of a big, old-fashioned Number 3 butter-cream cake taken on my 3rd birthday at home. Our son Alexander (more affectionately known as 'Buddy' on our blog and social media accounts) turns 3 today. He's our last baby and for that reason alone, this milestone got David and I all sentimental. We still remember vividly how, … [Read more...]
Tokio Marine: Protecting the Future?
Preparing for the Future? How about Protecting the Future? I’m writing this on the day I turn 47. I’m keenly aware how blessed I am to be celebrating it with my wife and kids. Reason? Three weeks ago, I was at a friend’s wake – she was 39, leaving behind two young daughters of primary school-going age. She had passed-on after battling cancer for a short 1.5 years. Not too long ago, another ex-colleague had passed-on, leaving his stay-home wife to start looking for odd-jobs to support … [Read more...]

Celebrate Le Petit Society’s New Website and Retail Store!
If you've been following our blog and IG, you would have noticed that our kids, Dana and Buddy are often dressed in these sets of very comfortable, organic cotton PJs. It's their fav outfit and if given a choice, they would wear it all day, everyday. Yes they are THAT comfy. Every kid should own at least few sets of these PJs (in my opinion). Organic PJs that we love! These PJs are from one of our fav Kids & Baby clothing store, Le Petit Society. Besides carrying … [Read more...]
NDP 2017: 5 Things You Need To Know
National Day Parade gets me choked up every single time. As a family, we would camp out with out kids at various vantage points in Marina come weekends in July and August, just to soak in the NDP revelry. Once a year on National Day (more so than any other day in the calendar), we are reminded how fortunate we are to be citizens of this country and how we should never take our progress, peace and prosperity for granted. After we became parents, we would always use National Day to … [Read more...]
Changi Recommends WIFI Router – Stay Connected while Disconnecting
When we go on holidays, we want to be intentionally disconnected, particularly from the stressful demands and deadlines of work and to spend precious time with those closest and dearest. However, there are times where WIFI connectivity during the holidays is important to ensure your holidays go as planned. As a family who travels with our young kids at least twice a year, we do plan quite thoroughly before our trips. Anything from attraction sites, directions and other essentials are usually … [Read more...]

Mothers Make It Work
Love makes all things light... "While love takes on itself impossible tasks, yet it finds that love lightens all loads. It is the same burden that wings are to a bird, sails are to a ship. Nothing is hard if done for love's sweet sake. The yoke of love is easy; the yoke of duty is hard. There is all the difference in the world between being drawn by love and being driven by duty. The task may be the same, but love makes everything light, and duty makes everything drudgery." ~ Stanley … [Read more...]
Hokkaido: Asahiyama Zoo
“This had better be good…” I quipped while standing outside the entrance of Asahiyama Zoo 旭山動物園, waiting for it to open, in the cold of winter with rain pelting down. On all accounts, it was a dreary, overcast Winter's day. After a short walk to the Sapporo train station from Keio Plaza Sapporo Hotel, we took a 1.5 hour train ride to Asahikawa Station. From the Asahikawa Station, we had to catch a public bus to the zoo. The entire journey took 2 hours+ on public transport complete with 2 … [Read more...]
