Here in tropical Singapore, we experience Summer all year long. When weather gets too unbearable, here are what we do to 'Beat the Heat'! 1. Retreat to our favourite side-walk cafe on a lazy afternoon and people-watch over a cup of yummy decaf Ice-Latte...2. Visit the local Museums and give the lil one an 'art appreciation crash course' in the cool comfort of the full blast air-conditioning... 3. Go on a shopping spree and take the chance to try out new accessories while … [Read more...]

Wordless Wednesday: Faith
As a mom of an only child, I worry about what the future brings. How would the girl grow up, what school would she attend and who can she call her own when we are no longer by her side. Everytime such thoughts assault me, this old hymn never fails to grant me peace:"Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wondrous face. And the things of this world, will grow strangely dim...In the light of His Glory and Grace."Grant me more faith Lord, to believe that our lives … [Read more...]
Motivational Monday: In love with Fireworks
Photo Credit: Kenny Teo Last Saturday evening, Daddy brought Dana and I out for a spin and we ended up at One Fullerton for dinner. The food was appetizing but the real bonus was that it being the last few Saturdays leading up to our Nations' 47th Birthday, there was NDP rehearsals going on at the nearby Marina Bay Floating Platform. We were excited to be treated to a visual feast right where we dined! At exactly 8pm, after the National Enthem, the … [Read more...]
Fun Friday Bake!
It has been a most hectic week with lots of deadlines at work and the arrival of a new domestic help. I came home physically drained but still wanted to devote some time to do something fun with the Princess. We didn't take long to decide on baking as I have a recipe which has been on my "to-do" list for a while. We measured the ingredients and laid out the baking tools. I enlisted the help of my capable little baking apprentice, Dana, to do most of the tasks as this recipe is rather … [Read more...]
The Doc is In! Doc McStuffins Premiers on Disney Jr!
Meet the Doc!An anticipated new series for kids, Doc McStuffins, will make its debut on Disney Junior on 9th July 2012 (Monday). We were invited for a special preview screening by the good folks at TPR today. What is the series about: It's a playful series about a six-year-old girl named Dottie McStuffins who, one day, wants to become a doctor like her mother. As a kid, she "pretends" to be a doctor by fixing up toys and dolls (because of this, everyone calls her 'Doc'). When she puts on … [Read more...]

Motivational Monday: Moments that Matter (Stepping out of our Comfort Zones)
Moments... It's not only the time we spend with our kids, it's the moments we create that truly matter.Making Moments that Matter...Like most busy dads, I try to carve out as much time as I can to spend with our fast-growing daughter but I must admit, at times I am just just 'there' - sending her here, sending her there (i.e. for parties, playdates and classes); stand around here, look around there....It's very tempting to be just passively be 'there' and assume the duty's done.Today being … [Read more...]
Thankful Tuesday: Revisiting Dana’s Infancy to Toddlerhood
It's Tuesday and I'm thankful for the relaxing free & easy holiday enjoying the sights & sounds in Taiwan, where we intentionally slowed down our pace, threw our agendas to the wind and simply enjoyed each other's company as a family. As parents, we always lament that our children are growing up way too fast and we wish we can slow the clock so they'll stay forever cute and innocent...but it was only when we chanced upon this video (stored in our old PC hard disk) few days ago that it … [Read more...]
The Fascinating Underwater World@Sentosa!
During the June school vacation, we were extended a very exclusive preview of the most recent addition to the shark family at Underwater World Singapore — the Zebra Horn Sharks. When we told the kids about this invite, they couldn't contain their excitement and joy!I did a little research and discovered that what makes the Zebra Horn Sharks distinct from the rest of the other horn sharks is the Zebra-like vertical stripes across their body, as their name suggests. Although they do not … [Read more...]
A Farmer for a Day!
We went on the inaugural homelearning excursion to an Eco Farm last weekend. Here are Top 5 Things we like about this outing:1. The Rustic SurroundingsThe farm is located in a secluded part of Singapore, in far flung Neo Tiew Road. Even before we stepped into the farm, Daddy spotted these birds' nests hanging from the trees towering above us. We later learnt from a fellow Mommy that these are Baya Weavers' nests. What a gorgeous sight to behold! Can you spot the yellow … [Read more...]
