Brought Dana to watch The Lorax yesterday afternoon and we both loved, loved, loved it! The Lorax is a computer-animated musical comedy based on Dr. Seuss’ children’s book of the same name. It was produced by Illumination Entertainment (same creators as Despicable Me) and released by Universal Pictures on 2nd March 2012, what would have been the 108th birthday of Dr. Seuss, who died at age 87 in 1991.

This movie way surpassed my expectations and I regard it as one of Dr. Seuss’ most meaningful works. It teaches children important universal lessons about Truth, Courage, Greed, Consequences, Redemption, Hope and Friendship. Most importantly, it teaches the children (and us, adults) to respect the Earth and that each of us is responsible to our part to conserve the Environment before it’s too late.

I’m giving this movie a 5* star rating for it’s stunning visuals, fantastic animations and ingenious screenplay. Worthy of mention too is its star-studded voiceover casts, with Danny DeVito as The Lorax, Zac Efron as Ted and Taylor Swift as Audrey. With the March school holidays around the corner, do bring your children to catch this delightful Dr. Seuss movie. It promises to be an entertaining yet educational visual treat! I might just bring Dana back to catch it a 2nd time, in 3D!

Let me end the post by leaving you our favourite tune from the movie – “Let it Grow“. Turn on your speakers and enjoy the soundtrack!
