Top 6 ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY (or those with younger kids)

This is the 3rd review of our visit to LEGOLAND Malaysia. If you are bringing your family for a visit, do not miss these attractions suitable for the entire family.

LEGO® CITY

1. Legoland Express
See all the sights of the park aboard a life size LEGO® train.

We sat on the LEGO Express at the end of our visit when we wanted to rest our weary feet. We enjoyed the ride as it chugged round the perimeters of the Park, giving us a good summary of the rides we’ve taken and a quick overview of the attractions that we’ve yet to cover. You can ride on the LEGO Express at the start of your visit to help you visualise the stops you want to make and plan your day better.

2. Boating School
Would-be captains can take the wheel of their very own battery powered boat.

Minimum age: 8 years old (1-7 years old if accompanied by an adult)

The Boating School has the longest queue among all the rides in LEGOLAND. Up to 3 people can ride in each electrically-powered plastic boat. We waited nearly an hour for a chance to go on it.

When we boarded the boat, there is a “Go” pedal just to the right and the steering wheel in the middle. Children can take turns to steer the boat; however the steering only works properly when you have the ‘Go’ pedal down (this makes water shoot past the rudder). There is a predefined route which we should follow, but we can go fast or slow as there is plenty of room to overtake. It was a leisurely boat ride and kids can watch out for interesting Lego figurines as they steer the boat.

3. Observation Tower
Head 50 metres up for a fantastic view over the whole of LEGOLAND® Malaysia.

Minimum size: 120 cm (none if accompanied by an adult)

Standing at 60m, the Observation Tower is the tallest point of the entire theme park and provides an excellent aerial view of all 7 themed areas and 40 rides and attractions of LEGOLAND Malaysia. Visitors will be lifted to a maximum height of 41m as the Observation Deck meanders upwards in a constant circular motion in 50 seconds. The Observation Tower will be able to hold up to 50 visitors each ride and 1,000 visitors daily.

4. LEGO® 4D Studios
Get right inside the action with a fascinating 4D movie adventure. 500 visitors can get right inside the action with a fascinating 4D movie adventure at Lego Studios, where wind, smoke and water take 3D into the next dimension.

Apparently, different films are screened at different times of the day. The film we watched was ‘LEGO Racers’ where we followed the adventures of a young, carefree driver of a high-speed racing car. Dana was looking forward to the 4D show as she had enjoyed watching ‘Shrek 4D movie’ at Universal Studios. For us parents, we couldn’t be happier to enjoy the comfy seat and cool air-conditioning for 20 minutes. The next time we visit, we hope to catch ‘Spellbinder’ as we heard it was good too.

5. MINILAND
A miniature world here Asian landmarks have been recreated using more than 30 million LEGO bricks. It’s an interactive world on a scale of 1:20, where people, trains and aeroplanes come to life at the touch of a button.

It’s hard not to marvel at the amount of intricate details that were put into reconstructing these familiar landmarks and the ingenuity of MINILAND designers. Daddy and I enjoyed MINILAND and would love to revisit it again to admire each exhibit at a more leisurely pace.

6. Photo taking with LEGO Figurines

There are 15,000 LEGO® models throughout the park, providing excellent photo opportunities to capture beautiful memories of your kids and family. Here are just less than a tiny fraction of what we managed to photograph during our visit (as the kids were too anxious to check out the rides!):
