{"id":43449,"date":"2018-05-25T19:16:14","date_gmt":"2018-05-25T11:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lifestinymiracles.com\/?p=43449"},"modified":"2018-08-17T12:09:29","modified_gmt":"2018-08-17T04:09:29","slug":"toruk-singapore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lifestinymiracles.com\/2018\/05\/toruk-singapore\/","title":{"rendered":"TORUK \u2013 The First Flight by Cirque Du Soleil Singapore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Pandora!<\/p>\n<p>Having enjoyed the many Cirque productions that were performed on Singapore\u2019s shores, I admit, I was slightly disappointed to hear that this latest installation will not be performed under Cirque\u2019s iconic Grand Chapiteau.<\/p>\n<p>But shortly after clearing the airport-style security, my disappointment quickly dissipated \u2013 there in front of me, inside Singapore\u2019s Indoor Stadium was Pandora \u2013 the planet home to the Na\u2019vi people based on James Cameron\u2019s award-winning movie, Avatar. I was high with anticipation as I took my seat and made myself comfortable in my new \u2018home planet\u2019 for the next two hours where the visual feast transported me to mystical Pandora.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-43457\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lifestinymiracles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Toruk1-1.jpg?resize=828%2C315&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"828\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lifestinymiracles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Toruk1-1.jpg?w=828&amp;ssl=1 828w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lifestinymiracles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Toruk1-1.jpg?resize=300%2C114&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.lifestinymiracles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Toruk1-1.jpg?resize=768%2C292&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Three Reasons to catch Toruk \u2013 The First Flight&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Spectacular Lighting Effects&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>From what seems like countless LED lights to UV lights as well as the audiences\u2019 handphones, we all form part of the special effects team here via the TORUK App for this production. These lighting effects, aside from giving a sense that one is really in the mythical planet of Pandora effectively creates scenes of crumbling mountains to waves lapping into the cave holes where fight and flight scenes take place. In short the amazing lighting simply blew me away. You have to see it to believe it! Stunning Sets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One main reason I\u2019ve always enjoyed a Cirque production is their use of seemingly simple ideas to give some seriously significant impact. Huge trees, cave holes, crumbling mountains and endless vines, this were among some of the amazing scenes that were created from the seemingly simple sets. Audiences can also expect to see large kites being used along with puppetry and even boomerangs (you MUST watch this!). Used effectively combined with lighting and smoke effects, it took our breaths away. Awesome Acts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unlike other Cirque productions which we have seen here, the cast members here have to don heavy make up, costumes with head gears of various sizes and not forgetting that tail to fully mimic the fictional blue-skinned, sapient Na\u2019vi people, these are by no means easy. Amidst the acrobatic acts and stunts, their acting is also top-notch. Speak Na\u2019vi language and emoting with them so convincingly, we could have been fooled that it was an actual language they were speaking. From fight scenes to scenes of jubilation, it was a real treat to see what seems like part of the \u2018Avatar\u2019 movie come to live right in front of us. If you are a fan of legendary director James Cameron\u2019s \u2018Avatar\u2019 movie which swept the movie world by storm back in 2009, this production must not be missed.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q6YfGM5ZD3o?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tips to enjoy the Production:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Don\u2019t sit too near: Yes, to fully enjoy the visual spectacle, select seats which are further from the stage, mid way or even closer to the back to take in breathtaking visual effects. You won\u2019t be disappointed.<\/p>\n<p>2. Bring a bino: To catch the details of the actors\u2019 facial expression, their intricate costumes and fanciful puppetry, I suggest you bring a small binoculars along.<\/p>\n<p>3. Download the app: Be part of the show! Download the \u2018Toruk \u2013 The First Flight\u2019 app and participate when the app \u2018buzzes\u2019 you.<\/p>\n<p>4. Suitable for kids? : The set is largely dark with loud thumping music and singing that accompanies the acts. These along with the make-up of the Na\u2019vi and their unusual native tongue may not appeal to very young children below 5. However, it would certainly be a visual treat for kids perhaps of 10 years and above.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vizpro.sg\/en\/event\/dance\/toruk---the-first-flight-by-cirque-du-soleil-9939586\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TORUK \u2013 The First Flight<\/strong><\/a> is entertaining and engaging. Although it does not have the typical death-defying stunts that one would expect from a Cirque act, through a riveting fusion of cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to James Cameron\u2019s imaginary world and \u201cmakes the bond\u201d between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination.
