SRT’s The Little Company celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a re-staging of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved tale, The Nightingale!

My family thoroughly enjoyed The Nightingale when it was last staged in 2014 in Mandarin. This month, the English adaptation of Danish fairy tale comes back to the KC Arts Centre! Written by Olivier Award-winning playwright, Mike Kenny and directed by Kate Golledge (of Chicken Little, Treasure Island, Red Riding Hood), The Nightingale tells of a Chinese Emperor who prefers the tinkling of a bejeweled mechanical bird to the song of a real nightingale. When the Emperor is near death, the Nightingale’s song restores his health. The story has been adapted to opera, ballet, musical play, television drama and animated film all around the world and we are so privileged to have our very own SRT’s The Little Company’s adaptation, just for kids.

Starring a brand new cast of local talents (Kimberly Chan, Erwin Shah Ismail, Leslie Tay and Natalie Yeap), and featuring the famous local composer, Ruth Ling, The Nightingale is set to be a light-hearted, witty drama that will have children learning what true friendship, trust and love really mean. Come and be enthralled by catchy songs, gorgeous costumes, beautiful props and most importantly, a storyline that will tug at your heartstrings!
