Sunset at Quayside Isle

It was our first time venturing into Quayside Isle (圣景湾) but we liked the relaxed vibe the moment we stepped foot on the timbered promenade lining the cove. Quayside Isle is Sentosa’s newest integrated retail and dining destination (right next to W Sentosa Hotel). For non Sentosa Cove residents like us, the journey there itself is like a ‘mini-excursion’ of sorts, giving us heightened anticipation of the surprise that awaits.

Tasteful, Contemporary Decor…

MUSEO is the newly minted sister cafe of the popular Arteastiq Boutique Tea House at Mandarin Gallery, Orchard. Pronounced as ‘Moo-Zay-O, which means ‘Museum’ in Italian, the cafe is designed to be a classy, well-curated chill out, creative dining space. Unlike normal museums where words are spoken in hushed tones, here at MUSEO, you are encouraged to eat, chat, linger and reconnect over food and art.

The entrance to MUSEO is slightly obscure as it’s located on the 2nd storey of the row of eateries (above Picotin Express) right next to the Sentosa Cove Marina. As we entered the restaurant, I was impressed by the cosy, spacious, refined interiors. The entire place oozes quiet, sophisticated style. We were ushered to one of its plush sofa day beds against the full length windows which provides a magnificent view of the beautiful yachts docked at the Marina.

Service at MUSEO was attentive and warm, with its supervisor Angela and bartender Ren attending to guests’ requests without intruding into your privacy. MUSEO prides itself in offering a wide varieties of alcoholic beverages including 30 exclusive cocktails. Angela gave us a quick run through of the menu and recommended me a healthy Dietary Cocktail (where tea is infused with alcohol and other organic ingredients). For David the coffee lover, he was recommended the Autumn Sweater Expresso-Whisky Cocktail. Both are exquisite.

We were recommended their signature Arteastiq Cold Pomelo Tea to cleanse our palettes before the food arrived. It was one of the best gourmet teas we’ve drank; the subtle citrus scent of the Pomelo accentuated the fragrant tea leaves, very soothing and uplifting.

The perfect tea for our humid climate!

For starters, we ordered the Mezzanine Starters Set which essentially are Tapas (appetizers or snacks in Spanish cuisines). There are a total of 12 Mezzanines on the menu, of which we can pick and choose any 4 items to form a set. We decided on the following:

Joys of life (Smoked Roast Pork Belly served with Hot Chilli Sauce);
Smile of Mona Lisa (Deep Fried Camembert Cheese served with Cranberry Sauce);
Picasso’s Blues (Deep Fried Prawns flavoured with Lavender); and
A Sunday Afternoon on the Island (Chicken Satay served with Pineapple Peanut Sauce).

Our Mezzanine Starters Set ($39)

The Mezzanine Set was served in pretty see-through round glass bowls, which is MUSEO‘s trademark. This unique ‘Dine in a Cup’ plating style is aesthetically pleasing and indulges our visual sensorial experience. Tastewise, the pork belly was roasted to perfection – very crisp, well-seasoned and very addictive! The camembert cheese goes exceedingly well with the semi-tart cranberry sauce and I was wondering how to recreate this dish at home. The prawns were surprisingly tasty, very firm and I love the strong hint of lavender at first bite. The satay was just ordinary (a tad dry) but the accompanying rich pineapple satay sauce made up for it.

My fav Mezzanine items – Deep Fried Camembert Cheese with Cranberry Sauce

For entrees, I ordered the River Prawns and Linguine while David tried their Pan Roasted Cod Fillet. My pasta were just ok and did not impress. The linguine lacks a punch, not infused with the garlic and chilli as a good Aglio Olio should. The prawns were overbaked. David likes his cod though, it was fresh and flavorful, nicely seared and goes well with the caramelised onion relish. The mushroom risotto was too mushy for my liking. I regretted not ordering the Two Way Lamb with Sheperd’s Pie ($35) but that gives us a good reason to return.

For desserts, David ordered the Whiskey Hot Cioccolata while I decided to be adventurous and ordered their signature Jelly Slush Beer and Cider which was freezed at extremely low temperature. One sip and I immediately declared the slush to be my FAVOURITE beverage of the night. So icy cold and so refreshingly delicious that it instantly perks me up. When you visit MUSEO, you have to try it! David enjoyed his Hot Chocolate which was wicked with a dash of whiskey. We rounded off the meal on a sweet note with their Vodka Chocolate Lava Cake served with a dollop of Vanilla Gelato. One word: Decadent!

Best drink ever – Kopparberg Strawberry & Lime Jelly Slush ($13)

Our evening at MUSEO plucked us away from the hustle of our hectic lives and allowed us to enjoy each other’s company as if we were on vacation. The relaxed ambiance, comfy sofas, dim mood lighting and jazzy lounge music invited us to kick back and enjoy the moment. If we were not rushing to pick Dana from my Mom, we would have loved to dabble in the art jamming too.

MUSEO also offers an amazing Weekend High Tea Buffet (Sat & Sun, 1.30pm to 5pm) where families can enjoy a dazzling array of intercontinental fusion dishes, delectable desserts and afternoon treats, complimented by their signature range of Arteastiq Teas at $48++ per person. For the upcoming Mothers’ Day, they are hosting a special Bubbly Champagne Brunch. Check out the poster below or MUSEO‘s Facebook for more details!

MUSEO is the ideal venue for that romantic first date, the much-anticipated wedding proposal, a cosy anniversary celebration, that long overdue reunion, a casual art jamming party or an quiet, intimate dinner for husband and wife. It won’t be long before discerning diners will discover this gem. We can’t wait to be back!
