Next Sunday 12 May is Mothers’ Day. If you like to do a craft with your child, here are 5 easy ideas to try. What’s good about these projects is that they can be easily adapted for Father’s Day too. Have fun crafting with your kids!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Mothers’ Day Newspaper Printable – Martha Stewart<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

1. Forget me Not Tote Bags<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Paint tote bags to carry small bottles of water or snacks for an outing. Dana did something similar at her Kindy’s Fun Carnival Day; it’s a handy little bag and we’ve been using it!<\/p>\n

What You’ll Need: <\/b> Canvas tote bags (available at Spotlight or Art Friend), fabric paints, sponge brush, old newspapers<\/p>\n

Make It: <\/b> Lay out the old newspapers to make cleanup easier. Dip the sponge brush into paint and paint the entire palm of your child’s hand. Have her press handprints onto the tote in a clockwise direction to resemble the petals of a flower. Use the brush to paint a center for the flower, a stem, and a leaf. Personalize by writing, stamping, or stenciling Mommy’s name on the bag. Let the totes dry before presenting to Mommy!<\/p>\n

2.  Mothers’ Day Bouquet Card<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Use cupcake liners for a new twist to jazz up a card.  Great for older kids!<\/p>\n

What You’ll Need: <\/b> Photos, card stock, patterned cupcake liners (available at Cold Storage or Baking shops), glue, scissors, round punchers (optional)<\/p>\n

Make It: <\/b>Gather two to three of your favourite passport photos and use a round puncher to punch them into circular shapes. Alternatively, you can use a scissors to cut them out.  Get ready a piece of red or pink card stock. Form a bouquet by use green cardstock to form the stems and leaves and adding a cupcake liner and a photo to the front of a card.<\/span> You can add one bloom (cupcake liner) for each member of the family. Decorate the back of the card with a personalised message and embellish with stickers.<\/p>\n

 3. Fun Photo-booth Style Bookmarks<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Turn photos into a fun bookmark for your Mommy’s favorite book.  Easy and meaningful.<\/p>\n

What You’ll Need: <\/b> Photos, card stock, glue, ribbon, hole puncher, scissors<\/p>\n

Make It: <\/b>Gather three of your favourite photos (preferably from the same outing or background) and trim to a small 2″ by 2″ square size. Alternatively, you can bring it to one of those Photo shops to have them developed into 2R size.  Cut a rectangular piece of card stock that’s a little larger than the photo and glue the photos onto it. To embellish, punch a hole at the top and tie a ribbon through it. Decorate the back of the bookmark with a personalised message.  To seal the bookmark, you may laminate it.<\/p>\n

4.  I L-O-V-E Y<\/span>ou Photo Frame<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

A lovely souvenir for the home or office. Snap a super photo collage to hang on the wall all year long.<\/p>\n

What You’ll Need: <\/b> Poster paper, black markers, digital camera, four-window photo frame (available at Ikea), scissors<\/p>\n

Make It: <\/b> Cut four equal-size rectangle poster paper (or you can recycle those Book Depository brown packaging). Make sure they’re large enough to show up on camera. Using a black marker, draw each letter of the word “LOVE” on a different piece of paper. Hand your kid(s) each letter and snap away with your digital camera. Print your photos in black and white on your computer or at a local drugstore. Once they’re developed, pick your favorite photos to spell out L-O-V-E, and place them inside the frame.<\/p>\n

5.  Photo Collage Letter<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Another awesome photo project which displays all your favourite snapshots in a meaningful way!<\/p>\n

What You’ll Need: <\/b>Acrylic paint, large block letters (available at Art Friend, Cotton On Kids), lots of photos (can be in black and white or colour), craft glue, scissors. <\/p>\n

Make It: <\/b>Paint your letter block in your Mommy’s favourite colour and leave to dry overnight (optional).  Arrange the positions where you wish to place the photos and cut them to size. Paste the photos onto the block with craft glue and let the photos dry. Hang on wall or display on desktop!<\/p>\n
