But you have saved me, Charlotte,I would gladly give my life for you-I really would.” ~ Wilbur

You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing.” ~ Charlotte

Charlotte’s Web by E.B White was my Secondary One literature text. It was my first time being exposed to literary analysis and I remember being moved by the central themes of the story: friendship, love and loyalty. Indeed, the friendship between Charlotte the Spider and Wilber the Pig is like no other; not only do they share an unbreakable bond, they establish a friendly environment within the barn that would have otherwise not been. This children’s story has enthralled audiences for generations and has been adapted into many animation cartoons and even a Hollywood movie (in 2006). We loved it so much we bought a copy of the DVD so we can watch it over and over again with our children.

Now, the Singapore Repertory Theatre’s The Little Company is presenting Charlotte’s Web LIVE on stage for the Singapore audience! Families are in for a theatrical treat that is about Some Pig. Humble. Radiant – words spun in Charlotte’s Web, high up in Zuckerman’s barn. Charlotte’s spiderweb tells of her affection for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. To avoid Wilbur being sent to the butcher, Charlotte proves to be a true friend by coming to his rescue. Charlotte uses her web-spinning skills to weave messages that praise Wilbur, making him a celebrated pig treasured by the farmer and his family.
