We stayed at this brand new Le Meridien hotel on final two nights for a change from the Seminyak Villa as we wanted to be closer to the airport. We were blown away by the hotel. Lush landscaping, beautiful finishes, warm service, impeccable luxury with a wonderful kids club – totally our kind of hotel for a fantastic family holiday.

As we stepped into the alfresco lobby, we were welcomed the extremely tasteful and modern decor. The bright, vibrant colours and the hip, upbeat vibe immediately lifted our moods. Having stayed at a typical Balinese style villa in the earlier leg, this is a refreshing change. The team of young, dynamic staff exude confidence and extended true Balinese hospitality with their friendly greetings and very obliging service. Everyone from the front desk staff to housekeepers and the buggy drivers genuinely look happy to be working in the resort and they take pride in ensuring our stay was a delightful, memorable one.

We were happy to be upgraded by the hotel to a lagoon access room for our wedding anniversary, which was absolutely the icing on the cake for us. Dana was thrilled that we could jump right into the salt water lagoon from our balcony for a swim whenever we fancied. The bed is one of the most luxurious we’ve slept in (and we’ve stayed in many other 5-star hotels)!

See that ladder on the right? It leads us down to the salt water lagoon from the room!

Bathroom was really spacious with a huge self-standing tub placed in the middle and a classy timber stool at the vanity table. We totally feel so pampered head to toe…

Modern bathrooms are a big plus on my checklist…

Dana also spent half a day at the Kids Club when we went for our couple massage (heavenly!). Loads of toys and a specially set up movie/Nintendo Wii corner manned by dedicated staff who went out of their ways to keep the kids happy and made all of them feel very welcomed. We’ll like to specially commend the hotel’s ‘Starwood Kids‘ Programme where for US$10 per kid/day, kids dine free with every adult at any of the hotel restaurants and they can walk up to the gelato ice-cream counter to get an ice-cream treat anytime throughout the day. Talk about instilling brand loyalty – Starwood does it awesome!

The Jimbaran beach is just across a parking lot and through a row of famous seafood restaurants (where you can have cheap & yummy seafood in the evenings). We had dinner at Menaga Seafood Restaurant on our second last night. Be prepared for big crowds with waiting time for a table ranging from 30mins to 90mins even on a weekday! The bill for 2 of us (with grilled prawns, a fish, some clams, BBQ squids, sambal kangkong and rice) came up to SGD60 (pricey for Balinese standards and seafood wasn’t exactly fresh) but it’s a tourist magnet all the same.

A trip to Bali is incomplete without a Bintang!

The breakfast at the hotel’s Bamboo Chic Restaurant was one of the best we have ever had in a hotel. Beside the amazing buffet spread, we can also order any of the breakfast sets from the ala-carte menu specially created by their Michelin-star chef. The food was aesthetically pleasing and tastes exceptionally good. We wake up to this gastronomical gourmet experience every morning, what’s not to rave about? We could honestly stay in this resort for a week and not get bored!

I developed mild fever on the last night of the stay. The housekeeping team not only brought me a pot of warm camomile tea (on the house) to soothe my queasiness, they also went the extra mile to get me panadols to combat my fever. I felt better the next morning after a good sleep. This is our 3rd trip to Bali and we’ve finally found THE hotel that make us want to return in a heartbeat. Granted, there may be more luxurious hotels in Bali (such as the Bvlgari Resort) but at least this one doesn’t cost us an arm or leg and is affordable even for families. If you’re headed to Bali, don’t miss this gem. Here are some parting shots of the hotel:
