Charly T’s is a cosy family restaurant where all the dishes on its menu are culled from Charly’s Travels (Hence, the name Charly T’s). Apparently, Charly (presumably the founder) was so inspired with the food he encountered on his extensive travels that he decided to set up a restaurant as a tribute to his food journeys across the globe. From the rotisserie chicken in Hamburg to the Kalua pork in Hawaii, there’s something to please everyone’s taste buds.

Embark on a Food Journey with Charly T’s

We were invited for food tasting session at Charly T’s 112 Katong outlet last Sunday. This casual and inviting restaurant makes an ideal weekend hangout place for families. Here are top 3 reasons why Charly T’s gets our thumbs up:

1. The kiddy menu offers ‘real’ food.

Dana’s Junior Fish & Chips Platter tastes fresh, delicious with big chunks of real fish fillets which she happily polished off within minutes. The fries were crisp and neither too salty nor soggy. None of the processed stuff you get at other western cafes. Even the ice-lemon tea was home-made. Kid’s meals are available from $9.50+ and offers favourites like Mini Burgers or Sausages with Fries with a complimentary soft drink or homemade iced tea.

The most delish Fish & Chips for kids!

2. You get access to a smorgasbord of food from around the world!

Their signature Charly T’s Rotisserie Chicken comes in 4 exotic flavours – Original, Kampong Chicken, Kansas City BBQ and Black Pepper. We have unanimously fallen in love with their Salsburg dessert – ‘Kaiserschmarrn’ which is like a bread pudding made with waffles – irresistibly good when paired with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream! Diners at Charly T’s are truly spoiled for choice.

Kalua Pork ($20+) and side dishes of Potato Salad and Butter Garlic Rice

Original Rotisseries Chicken (Quarter chicken with 2 side dishes at $14.50+)

3. Kids craft while you eat!

On the second and third Sunday every month, Charly T’s engages young diners with activities such as “Terrarium Making”, “Instrument Making” and more. On the day we visited, they were making lanterns in celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival!

The next session will be a special ‘Mask Making’ Workshop which will take place on 20 Oct 2013 (Sunday 1-2pm). Children will be guided by a guest instructor in making their very own masks in line with the month of Halloween. These hands-on workshops are complimentary and limited to 20 children on a first come, first served basis.

Besides 112 Katong, Charly T’s has another outlet at Handy Road (next to The Cathay). We were told they also have a take-away counter at PasarBella, the Grandstand. Charly T’s open till 1am every Friday and Saturday where lights will be turned down and music jazzed up. For more information, do visit their website and facebook page.
