Stokke – the name that is synonymous with high quality children’s products.

It’s common talk that with the 2nd (and subsequent) child, parents tend to be a bit more ‘relaxed’ in parenting. We become less apprehensive, less uptight and less insistent on the quality and condition of baby items as long as they are safe and still ‘usable’. After all, we’ve been there, seen that, bought the baby dress/cot/car seat etc. and are all ready to go on the recycle mode with the arrival of the 2nd/3rd/4th child. As parents, we all know young children outgrow their possessions real fast.

For us, that couldn’t be more true. Especially since the opportunity to adopt Alexander came literally overnight and we were caught unprepared. Thankfully, friends and family sprang into action and passed us some hand-me-downs which we appreciate dearly. When Alexander got older and the need for a high chair came along, we started to scout for a pre-loved one from online forums. Imagine my pleasant surprise when one day I came home from work and there, sitting in the living room is a stunning STOKKE Steps High Chair. I did what any Daddy would do – I lifted it up and remembered exclaiming ‘Whoa! What high chair is this?’

You see, while Dana, had the benefit of using a brand new high chair from the giant Swedish furniture brand, holding and lifting the STOKKE up won me over. It is solid and sturdy without being overly bulky or heavy. The STOKKE Steps is made of durable European beech wood – a solid, natural material (the same great wood that the famous Stokke Tripp Trapp is constructed from) in combination with white plastic parts and gray details, making it a great modern and streamlined high chair option. While there is time and space for lighter products for children, a high chair is not something you’d want to be light as it should be stable enough to hold the weight of a growing and lively child, much like Alexander.

The STOKKE Steps is the first in the market which combines the bouncer and high chair in a modular seating system. The STOKKE Steps Bouncer offers variable reclining positions and a unique cradling bounce movement (which can be used separately on the floor) and then attaches securely to the STOKKE Steps High Chair. This brings the baby to the dining table from Day 1, strengthening family togetherness.

Happy and secure in his Stokke Steps High Chair…

The Stokke Steps’ clean lines makes it easy to clean and its contemporary design fits handsomely into any modern home. Alexander very comfortable and happy whenever he’s in it. The baby set has roomy leg room, while still providing optimum security. The back can be shifted to bring the child a little closer or further away from the table. The large tray proves to be very useful especially since we have recently started weaning Alexander and we can imagine him colouring, doodling on it as he grows. The adjustable foot rest is provides support for little feet (and great for helping to catch food that might have fallen on the floor previously!). Guess what? One of my personal favourite feature of the Stokke Steps is that all adjustments can be made easily tool-free!

Quality and ergonomic finishing, second to none on the market…

The other feature which makes me impressed with the STOKKE Steps is the five point safety harness system. This is far cry to the single waist belt which most high chairs offer. The harness system secures both the child’s waist and shoulder giving parents the assurance that the child cannot climb OUT of the chair. The finishing of the STOKKE Steps High Chair is very well done, with smooth, rounded, ergonomic edges which give it a very organic and natural feel. The modern, contemporary design exudes class and quality. Admittedly, STOKKE STEPS is not the cheapest high chairs in the market, but they’re the best – you’re paying for innovation, design, security & durability.

5-point safety harness that provides uncompromising safety for the active baby…

The winning formula of the STOKKE Steps High Chair is that it grows with your child – from a baby bouncer to a high chair and then child’s chair, accommodating your little one from birth up to ten years of age. Parents can transform the high chair according to your child’s age and needs – remove the backing turns it from a high chair for toddlers to a reading chair for primary school kids. Brilliant isn’t it? Add the baby set (and a tray) to empower older babies to pick up self-feeding skills or fine motor with the food or toys placed within their reach.

Functional, safe and stylish…

Because the STOKKE Steps High Chair can be fully customised to a family’s individual needs, the accessories are sold separately. This is a good thing because we only have to buy what we need. Expectant parents may want to buy the entire STOKKE Steps Bouncer and High Chair System, while families with older children might opt for just the STOKKE Steps Chair (i.e. without the modular additions). We read that the STOKKE Steps System was in development for close to five years before it hit the market, even though STOKKE is already renowned world-wide for its supreme dedication to product safety and innovation. This testifies the commitment STOKKE devotes to every product it launches, in the best interest of the child.
